I am finished. And what a pile of sludge to get through. It gets better but not by much. It was kind of a disappointment. But like I mentioned it does get better later on in the book and it picks up the pace too. Let me know what you think when you get there Raviteja. Alexxey are you still with us? Just massive spoiler that you shouldn’t open unless you have read the entire thing

I believe Alexxy dropped off after Queen of Shadows and DNF'd this series.Firstly, despite how slow it felt for you, you finished this quite quickly. Congrats 😁👏
I took a while to read the first chapter and from second half of the second chapter, it got my attention. But I am barely finding time to read with guests at home, so I am sadly lagging behind.
If it continues with politics and some intrigue, it will help me. But I am yet to find out.
I will say more once I get through the book.
I finished part 1. My thoughts are this. Given that we two are the only readers, I am skipping out on the spoiler tags.Part 1 of this book is characterized by Chaol's healing, his evolving relationships with Nesryn and Chaol, politics and a rare valg hunt. The descriptions of the southern continent, the towers is vivid and I wish to live in a place like that. However, it presents an underwhelming reading experience when we compare it with Empire of Storms. The pace is slow, there is barely a little plot progression. Definitely this book needs better editing and it could have atleast 50 less pages in part 1 itself.
I am happy that Chaol is healing and I definitely am putting a chaol-yrene relationship in the cards. After all he went through, I find Chaol's character quite immature at times. I somewhat can understand he and Yrene being at each other's throats early on. But near the end of Part 1, I dont like him showing his disappointment with himself, how he dealt with Nesryn - all towards Yrene. Poor girl. After all they went through, this is not so expected.
Will continue with Part 2 along with The Bands of Mourning (which I do not doubt will finish first).

I had a suspicion when Maeve attacked Aelin with the dark magic - similar to the Valg prince's. I tried looking it up and spoiled myself.
I will be starting Kingdom of Ash tomorrow as well. The book is huge, so better oto take it slowly.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!
Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.
Happy Buddy Reading!
