What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Around 10-15 years ago I read this dragon shifter series. Around the third or fourth book in the series centered around two dragons who struggled to come to terms with the fact that they were mates. The heroine overheard the male telling a coworker that she was “cold” and the male had a live in girlfriend that he chose not to break up with. Neither one could believe they were meant for each other and rejected it in their own way. The heroine went to a bdsm club and allowed another male to beat on her so that she could escape her pain. I believe the woman was some sort of lightning dragon? That’s all that I can remember, any help identifying this would be appreciated! It’s driving me crazy that I can’t think of it!
