Do you have any bookish conflicts you want to share? Or do you want to cope up with a bad/sad experience?

Come here, we're here to warm you :)

For recs, please check out the thread Book Recommendations thread in the Buddy Reads folder.

I actually have a very specific story for this one. I lost a friend over a book. (That sounds dramatic lol)
--------
My friend (we'll call her E) and I were going to the school library. I had ranted and raved all day about how much I was excited to get a book, and that I really hoped they had a copy. (Book two of keeper of the lost cities)

When we went to the library, she went and got the book. I was mad at her, because I was looking forward to this all day. I asked her why she didn't let me have it, and she said that I was being stuck up and annoying about it.

This didn't really faze me since I was used to her treating me like a piece of crap.

And then I realized that she ALWAYS treats me like a piece of crap. I stopped talking to her, and that was the end of that.

This wasn't really a "bookish" conflict but the book incident made me realize that she wasn't the type of friend I wanted to have.

Wouldn't exactly call this a book conflict but it does annoy me!

So my mom and I read a lot of the same books (She's actually the person who got me into reading). So she borrows my books alot. Which is fine, as long as they dont get destroyed. But I hate when she would borrow a hard cover, because she takes them off while she's reading then loses them!! So I have a couple books on my shelves without their dust jackets. 😅

At least you found out that she's not a good person :)

Hmm, I guess I won't exactly call it a 'bookish conflict', but it's surely there. I may need help to cope with it.

So my parents know I'm reading YA and stuff, but I guess they don't know if there's any romance. Or that I may like to read a rom-com? I am confused like hell right now, I mean do they know it? Or should I tell them? If I have to talk to them, how should I approach them?

Yeah, I'm so confused rn, and I do need help :d

rania | 247 comments I mean, it depends on what you feel is right. Ideally I think you should ask them if they know YA has romance in it or that you like to read such books. Then maybe if they are okay with it ur good to go.

Honestly it is based on how you think ur parents will react. Will they be okay with it, or will they not approve of it? Think about that for a second and then approach them. But whatever happens you shud tell them. And anyway you can’t hide things from parents for a very long time. They’re bound to find out one day or the other :)

Most likely, they'll approve. I can casually start up a topic about that, you know. Anyway, thanks for your ideas :)

Jace (jace_is_reading) Not sure if this counts but, I used to hate books. And here's why:
So, I was younger and couldn't see why my sister wouldn't play/hangout out with me and had to read like all the time. Back then I couldn't really read that well. Anyway, we're like only about a year apart so we used to do everything together, and I mean everything. So, when she started reading more and spending less time with me I got mad, and blamed books for it, saying that I hated them cause they took my sister away.

I got over this with time and it all sounds so stupid now. And now I read more than she does, if ya can believe it :)

OMG! You sound just like my siblings, who threaten to burn my books when I'm asleep, because they supposedly took me away from them! XD

Brooke W (thereadersgame) | 296 comments My sister is the most reluctant reader, I ALMOST regret getting her into Harry Potter because now she refuses to read anything else. And she only ever listens to the audiobooks. I get it, but it's a different feeling with HP
