I did like this more than Cinder, but I still thought it was overrated. The romance was horrible. Too instalovey for my tastes. And Wolf was just over-the-top. He annoyed me. He and Scarlet had anger issues.
i agree with most you said. this book was better than cinder, and i do think this series may be a little bit overrated. i've never seemed to love this series as much as everybody else. i have mixed feeling about the romance. i didn't like the insta live, but i don't think it's the worst pair, like i've read about way worse.
I actually liked Cinder better than this book, mainly because I found Scarlet and Wolf boring. The addition of Thorne was amazing, and I especially loved all the banter between Cinder and him. I usually don't like insta love because it seems unrealistic, but like Lucy said, it wasn't the worse pairing ever. The whole "alpha" female thing was a little too much though.
I agree about the alpha female thing. It was so cringy and weird. Wolf was being way too protective. They only knew each other for two days.
I have said this beforehand, but I don't know if anybody else found it a bit confusing having the series being four retellings separately but also at the same time one story, and having Cinder sort of the MC but also not neglecting Scarlet, Cress and Winter. It was a bit confusing. We had wayyyyy too many MCs i think.

They all blended together for me. Cinder and Kai and Scarlet had the least interesting personalities, so I kind of forgot about them. Honestly, if you're going to write a book with so many MCs, they need to be distinguishable and unique (Throne of Glass is a good example).

tbh, i didn't really mind that. that's actually something that made the series more interesting for me and that's what made me read the next books, bc if the series continued on only with cinder's story i doubt i would have been able to get past book 2.
