Doughgirl5562 | 960 comments I debated with myself for quite a while as to whether this book belongs in the category "Book to Screen", and finally decided that Yes it does - although admittedly the route from book to screen was a winding one LOL. Although this is NOT the book upon which the musical Hamilton was based, most of the original source material for the musical was drawn from a book - Ron Chernow's Hamilton. And Lin consulted Ron Chernow during the years he was writing the musical many times.

(Admins, if you disagree then I would be happy to move it to the Other Books thread.)

I admit that I am not a Hamilton super-fan. I never saw any version in the theater, and finally saw it - on my small tablet - when it was released to screens everywhere by Disney+. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

Audible put the audio version of this book on sale a few months ago and I picked it up and started listening to it bit by bit, just finishing it this morning. This book is chock full of insight from Lin and his collaborators and the actors into what it took to put together and pull off what I now realize is an Epic production. I had no idea how much work and thought went into even one line in a song in the musical.

One slight disappointment. Lin didn't read most of the audiobook. But happily… instead he shared the narration with Jeremy McCarter and one of my other favorite actors -- Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order SVU fame. And the audio book included a pdf of notes that Lin had made to the musical's lyrics, and I was delighted to find that Lin read those notes -- which were very enlightening.

After listening to this book, I am very eager to go back and re-watch Hamilton and am well on my way to being a fan if not a super fan. I also want to read Ron Chernow's Hamilton now.
