Karen | 2 comments My debut middle-grade (ages 10-12) children's science adventure book, 'The Storm Magnet' is now available on Amazon, as an e-book and as a paperback, along with the 2nd book in the series, 'The Sacred Stone'. Can anyone advice me how to go about asking people to read my books and leave reviews? I have only one so far!!

Many thanks!
Karen

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 195 comments Some groups have areas where you can post about books and ask for reviews, so look for those and post requests in there.

You could also send messages to people who read books similar to yours here on Goodreads, telling them about the book, and asking them if they'd be interested in reading and reviewing it for you. If sending direct messages, make sure to start by greeting them by name, since it shows you're not just randomly messaging people. It's a good idea to also say something like, "I saw you read x, and enjoyed it, so I thought you'd like my book," or "I saw that you read a lot of middle grade books, so wondered if you'd also be interested in reading mine," since it's another way of showing you aren't just randomly sending out messages, but genuinely think they might enjoy your book.

Of course, this doesn't guarantee people will accept, and there are people who will accept but then won't post the reviews, but it's still worth trying.

However you post review requests, make sure you give details of your book in your review request, including title, genre, and book blurb, as well as information on the format(s) available.
