Icewineanne | 725 comments Rarely plan, except what I have to read for my monthly book club.
Generally I just pick up what strikes my fancy out of my 200 + books at hand 😊

Icewineanne | 725 comments We always met in pub, once a mth on a Sunday afternoon. It was so much fun. After the virus hit, they closed down the pubs so we were forced to use zoom. But it actually has worked very well for us. We tend to stay on topic more than we did when we were at the pub 😂.....but even so, we’re really hoping that we can return to our pub next spring 🤞🏻

I used to plan my reads diligently. I can say that doing so allowed me to get through more books because I didn't have any lag time in between. I'd order books from the library and read three or four books at a time. I was averaging two or three books a week.

My only issue was not having enough time to read everything I wanted to that month. I'm dyslexic and read very slowly. I enjoy it but I'm slow. I need to get back to planning.

Barbara K Books I'm committed to reading in a particular week or month because of a group read go onto a specific Goodreads bookshelf so I don't forget about them.

But I have no reading schedule other than those sorts of commitments, because I can't predict what kind of book my brain will be calling for at any particular time. I might wake up and feel that I need a dose of history or science, or I might feel the need to immerse myself in a novel that is deep or mystical - or maybe a garden variety police procedural. It's no use planning ahead.

I use my GR bookshelves to sort all my books - whether I've read them yet or they are just TBR - by genre. That helps me find the right "next read" more quickly than if I had to wade through everything!

The only plans I make are if I'm reading for a discussion. Other than that I read for fun and relaxation. Sometimes reading for a discussion isn't that relaxing. Plus I always try to finish a book for my in person book club even if I don't like it.

Anees Arshad I usually don't plan what to read but will instantly pick out a book based on my mood and genre of the previous book I have read. Mostly I read series so I don't need to plan and I read stand-alones like I said based on my mood at that time.

Abeer (abeerasad) | 114 comments I sometimes plan when to read certain books especially if they are apart of a series but mostly I just add the books I want to read on to a spinning wheel that chooses the next book I should read. I find it very hard to pick and choose especially if the books all sound really good and have the same ratings. At the moment I am taking a little break from reading as I am really busy with my internship.

Aditya | 1895 comments Not really outside of GR group reads. Though I try not to read authors with similar style back to back.

Along the same lines, I never read two books in a series one after the other. I have to have at least one book by someone else between them.

Yes! Especially if one of the books is especially intense and lingers in my mind after I'm done. I need something to cleanse my reading palate before I try something else along the same lines.

Bruce | 3277 comments I usually plan out what I’m going to read. Less so with audiobooks.
