what did you all think of this story?

message 4: by Tisha (new)

Tisha (theyaqueen) | 22 comments I... actually think the other stories in Bane Chronicles are wayy better than this one... It kinda seemed like the authors just thought of some vague incidents and club ed them all together. But I'm a BIG fan of Magnus, so it was interesting to see more about his past life and love affairs and all. But still, when I look at this story as a whole, it feels like... nothing really happened in Peru. (Just my opinion)

human (that0nefangirl) | 3 comments Same. I love Magnus, but this wasn't it. (I've yet to read the rest of the Bane Chronicles, so I'm hoping this was the worst one and they'll improve.)

Tisha (theyaqueen) | 22 comments Oh, don't worry, the rest of the stories improve. A lot. There are also characters we already know, so it gets real interesting. I personally feel like they start off at a bad point, but get much better as we go on :)

human (that0nefangirl) | 3 comments Okay, that's really great to hear! :)

Deepak I haven't read mortal instruments. I am new to the story. What really happened in peru is good. I started liking Magnus Bane.

human (that0nefangirl) | 3 comments Magnus Bane is arguably one of the best characters in TSC. (I've only read TMI and TID lol)

fun and I want to know everything about him

「美佳」liesolitte Yeah as people said before me Magnus is probably the best character in this series and to me is not “probably” but the very best. Cassandra made a very interesting job with him, job that I think she didn’t make with the others so that’s why I was kind of excited with this first part. But was a really big waste of time... a big nothing as I said in my review. Nothing happens, seemed like I was reading a very boring joke. Fortunately the rest just get better so I’m not saying that I already hate the Bane chronicles but this one was... 🙄

there were many short stories within this short story. and we still didn't get an answer of what really happened in Peru. I have many theories. like what if its something bad that is not revealed yet but will play major role in future books?

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 3 comments Not the strongest story out of the three I've read so far, but it was a good introduction to Magnus's personality and style and a hint of what's to come. It actually made me chuckle on more than one occasion, a fact I always appreciate in a book!

However, I have to say that it felt and looked like just some of the author's vague thoughts about Magnus's past made it to this first story, without really any meaningful connections between them and to the rest of the story...

Honestly, if you've only read just this story, hang in there, it gets better plot-wise.

~Cyanide Latte~ (cyanidelatte) I agree this isn't the strongest start to the stories, and I definitely feel like it's the weakest of all of the shorts in TBC, but I do appreciate that it sort of lays a level of groundwork for the structure of the rest of the stories within the book. There's a fairly decent balance of humor and serious heartbreak, even if this particular short feels disjointed.

Personally, since we don't really know what happened in Peru, I have a feeling it might come up in the plot of one of the installments of the Eldest Curses trilogy.
