I guess I’m going to count this as craft/hobby? But it could be paranormal (fairies) or career/occupation (fairy garden store owner)... Thoughts?
I enjoyed the story and wish we had a similar store in the area. I definitely plan to read more of the series. (And I can’t leave this without mentioning the gorgeous cover!)
I’m counting this as career/occupation because the whole story is wrapped around how the mc (Dayna) needs one. Also because I don’t have a better category.
This was a quick read with humor. Dayna is SO rushed to solve this thing that she finds one new clue and decides that must be the murderer, without enough follow through. The story does have more in the language area than the typical cozy (despite Dayna saying she doesn’t use those words), but I did enjoy it.

I think it's more paranormal than craft/hobby, but I haven't read it. Just remember to only count it in one category.

I figured she makes fairy gardens throughout and teaches others how to as well. I may move it later if other books fit better. I know I have other cozies for both of those categories that I could read.
Author lives in the US, but the book is set in Scotland. I enjoyed this one. I like Paislee, her relationship with her son, and her new found grandpa. I did guess the culprit early on, but I don’t blame Paislee for missing it.
I enjoyed this. I think I especially enjoyed the parts that make it different from any other cozies I’ve read. Namely, MC is a breat cancer survivor, has had a double mastectomy, and talks “openly” about it.
This Pen for Hire, Last Writes, and Killer Blonde by Laura Levine
These would all work for Career/Occupation (freelance writer). I’ve put them as Choice since I already filled that slot. If I somehow managed a big uptick in reading, maybe I’ll be able to move them.
A Brushstroke with Death Has quite a few animals including an owl, cat, pig, and dog, but it is loaded with witchcraft and magic making this the perfect fit for Paranormal. I already know I’m a fan of Bethany Blake’s work from her Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series. This wasn’t as good as that one, but was still fun. BTW, the series are connected by nearby towns and passing acquaintances.
This one is all about the animals. Most in the spotlight is kitten Queenie, who bosses MC Kari around, gets her to buy out a failing rescue, helps alert trouble, and provides the occasional clue to solving the murder with the swipe of a paw. My need to re-start volunteering at the nearby cat rescue and continue volunteering with the nearby farm rescue has been affirmed. And I never guessed the killer.
