i have a lot of emotional connection to the books, but if i went into it not already being attached to it, i feel like i would hate it. can we also just acknowledge jk rowling’s transphobia. she’s a terrible person and that even leaks into her books. there’s absolutely no representation and many comments that fat shame. way overhyped in my opinion.
The nostalgia blinds me. If I read it now, I probably wouldn't like it. Plus, there are JKR's comments.
Oh Harry Potter, I'm always so torn on this one. On one hand, I love the world building, and the fandom(the fanfics), but on the other hand, JKR sucks so much it's not even funny.
Yeah I have the same opinion as you guys. I just really love the Harry Potter world (I did read those books when I was like 8 years old or something, so it's a long time ago). I think it's also such a big hype because of the movies, because that way people who wouldn't read the books still know the story. I do remember that I did like the details in the books. I definitely thought Harry was annoying a lot of times tho haha
- Is this overhyped? DEFINETLY- Did you think Harry was annoying or not? Yes, very annoying
- Thoughts on JKR? She's a huge jerk who shouldn't be supported
- Do you like it due to the nostalgia, or is it actually good? No, I never liked it.
- Is this overhyped? Difficult to say, I honestly think HP deserves more recognition. A lot of adults avoid them and think HP is childish.- Did you think Harry was annoying or not? I used to get annoyed by him, but his childhood is so miserable and the responsibilities he bears is also very intense. In the end I ended up to admire him for being brave. (Still, poor boy)
- Thoughts on JKR? I'm so disappointed. Ever since The Cursed Child (I think it ruined the whole series for me), and especially after the hate she stirred (even though I'm against cancel culture, but SHE clearly is not doing it right). I'm still extremely thankful for the universe she created and will continue to like that universe, but I'm not going to support what she does outside that.
- Do you like it due to the nostalgia, or is it actually good? It is actually good. Even the minor characters shine (My heart aches thinking about Regulus Black). I liked the series when I was a child, but as I'm getting older I like it even more.

oh regulus black I adore him!
- Overhyped? Yeah, a little bit. I don't think it deserves all the fame it gets, but it's definitely a great series. There are just better ones out there.- I never have and never will find Harry annoying. Maybe it's just because I feel like I know him so well, but I find his angst justified in the fifth book. He can be dense, but is that really the most annoying character trait out there?
- No comment. I was never a huge JK Rowling fan, and I don't feel the need to get into all that.
- Nostalgia is definitely a huge reread factor for me, but I really do love the book and the characters. Despite all the hate she gets, Hermione has always been one of my favorite characters, flaws and all.
