33 - A book featuring three generations
emma ✰ wrote: "I think With the Fire on High could work!"Great book and Elizabeth narrates also and does wonderful
Alicia wrote: "Crazy Rich Asians?"Yep! That and the third one, Rich People Problems, both definitely work. Although I'm less sure about the second one, China Rich Girlfriend.
Right now I’m reading The Second Deadly Sin by Åsa Larson. A good mystery set in northern Sweden revolving around a series of family murders with a child, his parents, grandmother, great grandfather and great great grandmother! So far it’s really good and gets 5 stars on Goodreads.
Here are a few I've read:The Murmur of Bees
The Girl In Between
The Godfather
The Lioness of Morocco
The Burning Shore
The Royal House of Monaco: Dynasty of Glamour, Tragedy and Scandal
The Wishing Jar
Flowers in the Attic
I think I'm going to read this one for the challenge:
The Surgeon's Family
Years and years ago I read Marianne Fredriksson - Hanna’s Daughters Put that on my shortlist for now, but will keep an eye out for anything new
My favourite Middlesex!I think there's lots of family epics that would work for this - One Hundred Years of Solitude or The House of the Spirits spring to mind, although you may want to use either of those for magical realism instead!
A five-star book I read a couple years ago that would fit is Cilla Lee-Jenkins: Future Author Extraordinaire by Susan Tan.

Great suggestion! Love that book and her writing!

Good to know! It's been on my radar for a little while now and this is the perfect reason to pick it up.
Marica (The Book Chick) wrote: "Anyone read The Switchand could tell me if it fits this prompt? :)"Yes, it's mostly about the daughter and grandmother but the mother does have a role in it.

Yay. Thank you. :D
East of Eden is on the listopia; are there actually three generations in this book? I'd like to use it if so, but from the description only looks like it has two generations
I think I'm gonna go with Three Daughters by Consuelo Saah Baehr: From the fertile hills of a tiny village near Jerusalem to the elegant townhouses of Georgetown, Three Daughters is a historical saga that chronicles the lives, loves, and secrets of three generations of Palestinian Christian women. It's also available on Prime Reading (at least in UK).
Some of the Outlander books would work for this prompt.Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
An Echo in the Bone
Written in My Own Heart's Blood

My sister recommended September by Rosamunde Pilcher for this prompt. It's long, but the synopsis sounds better than a lot of books I have seen for multigenerational stories.
I can think of several that I've already read, lol. Merci Suárez Changes Gears is a really good one for this. Ghost Squad if you count ghosts as relatives lol. Bob is good. Hello, Universe is also really good.Middlegrade has a lot of good ones, but I feel like I read most of them... I have a lot where the kids are sent to their grandparents, so maybe I will use one of those, like Caterpillar Summer or Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky, but I think I will try Hoodoo.
Marica (The Book Chick) wrote: "Anyone read The Switchand could tell me if it fits this prompt? :)"The Switch doesn't would fit with a broad interpretation interpretation of this prompt. The mom isn't in much of the book. It focuses on the grandmother and granddaughter. It's a good book!
Charlsa wrote: "The Switch doesn't would fit with a broad interpretation interpretation of this prompt...."I disagree, a broad interpretation just means it has all three generations in, and even though the mum doesn't have a POV role, she's important enough in it that for most people, it'd count.
I agree that the mother and daughter relationship between Leena and her mother is an important part of The Switch.
Misty wrote: "
Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser"I'm definitely going to be reading this one! It looks fantastic!
Samantha wrote: "Are there three generation in Sense and Sensibility? Or any of Jane Austen’s books?"There are in Sense and Sensibility.
I just watched the Netflix movie Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis and wanted to read the book. I assume it will be a 3-generations book since the movie was.

I know I read plenty of books with multiple generations, but I can't think of any right now, EXCEPT the two I am currently reading (because of course): The New Wilderness & The Reckless Oath We Made, and a book I just finished: Empire of Wild.
What are some other books with three generations?
Listopia for a book featuring three generations
