William (be2lieve) | 1484 comments Natasha Trethewey and Terrance Hayes have been named winners of the biennial Bobbitt Poetry Prizes from the Library of Congress. The ceremony will be streamed on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. ET.

Trethewey, a former U.S. Poet Laureate, is being honored for her lifetime of work. Her most recent collection is “Monument: Poems New and Selected”. Her new book, a memoir called “Memorial Drive,” is one of The Washington Post’s top 10 books for 2020.

National Book Award-winner Terrance Hayes is being honored for his latest collection, “American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assassin,” which a reviewer said “reinvigorates a classic form”

Kathryn (kathrynlovescorgis) I'd love to read American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assassin, especially with others since I'm still wrapping my head around poetry after spending a long time avoiding it. I'll suggest it in the Buddy Reads Planning thread. Thanks!
