Feeling overwhelmed by the likes of Dickens, Bronte and Austen?
Not to worry we've got your backšŸ˜‰
A beginners guide through the tragic and hearty world of English literature.

I'm just going to go ahead and recommend my all-time favourite Little Women. Imo Jane Austen does a wonderful job with her characters and imparts morals without any stuffiness or being preachy.

em (-emanfazyl-) | 6 comments Yes! Little Women is a gem! I'll recommend Pride and Prejudice. Definitely not a soppy romance story, Austen's style of writing prevents that, though does make it a bit hard to follow. But I did get used to it so it was easy later on, and it felt good to put it down having learnt something new!

(I sound like a teacher or something lol)

šŸ˜‚I'd be happy to be your student, Eman.
And I agree, Austen's style is so beautiful that Pride & Prejudice was a wonderful read.
I love that about classics, they teach us lessons we never knew we had to learn.

Give it a few weeks, the frenzy of Little Women will wear off, and I believe I'll be due for another lessonšŸ˜… Perhaps I should do a reread of Pride & Prejudice as wellšŸ¤”

Yet another book to add to the outrageously high tbršŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø I've heard it's a bit dark.

Lisa of Troy Wuthering Heights was AWESOME! I also really like The Great Gatsby. What do you consider classic? Older than 25 years or older than 100?

Karan (notsowise) I don't think there is a uniform definition on what classifies as a classic.
