I got halfway through watching the Netflix series and felt like I was missing something important. So, I stopped and read the first book, and so many of my questions were answered! I’m now reading book 3 (Benedict’s story), and I am so excited to see how Netflix continues their adaptation.Eloise and Anthony are currently my two favorite Bridgerton in the show, although I feel that book Daphne is significantly more fun than show Daphne, who is sweet and adorable.

I read the first book before I watched the series and it really helps a lot because you already know who the characters are and how they are related and so many other details.
I felt exactly the same way! I think Daphne is very pale compared to the book, she has so much more wit and fire.
Also I thought Simon's story didn't get told deeply enough in the series for people to really understand his motives.
I loved that the show gave all the supporting characters much more space and time but I feel like it was at the expense of Dapne and Simon who almost became supporting characters themselves in a way.
I'm living in Germany and currently have a hard time to get my hands on a print version of book 3. But I want to read on very badly.
Me too. I am excited for Anthonys story to be told in the show. And how all the other characters develop.
Tanya wrote: "How many books are there?"I think there are eight books in total. They all focus on one of the Bridgerton siblings.
I can also really recommend the first book of the Rokesby series which is kind of a prequel to Bridgerton. The first book, "Because of Miss Bridgerton", is the first book I have read by Julia Quinn. And I loved it (even a tiny bit more than "The Duke and I")
I haven't read the books yet but I just bought The Duke and I! I see a few late nights in my future:) So far my favorite characters are Penelope and Eloise. Those girls are on fire!
I think what I loved best about the series was how beautifully they made a romance novel into a TV series. It was dramatic and funny. It was just the right amount of episodes. I binged watched it in a day...than made my sister-in-laws binge watch it too. I hope each season will focus on a new Bridgerton sibling just like the books. I have a hard time focusing on shows without clear endings for multiple seasons in a row. I think that's why I find this series so satisfying!
....it was a book too? I haven't delved into it yet, but have heard some. Not sure it's my cup of tea, but I had no idea it was a book as well

That sounds like it would make an awesome GoodReads group or special book club. I don't personally have a lot of interest in the show or books as of right now, but I know I hear a LOT of people really into it!! Great idea!

It would be nice in general to have this kind of book club where you watch films and series based on books together and discuss them later on. So if anyone is up for that, just let me know :)

We would agree on a date by which an episode has to be watched and then talk about it and (maybe) also compare it to the book.
OR
Just talk about the series in general without watching it together.
