I just ordered The Valancourt Book of World Horror Stories -- not sure if that counts as a theme but I'm really excited for it.
I'm really trying to take advantage of my Kindle Unlimited subscription...so I picked C is for Cannibals. After reading the first story, I might have to put it in the freezer...

I read Ellen Datlow's Nightmares: A New Decade of Modern Horror 2016.Oh my goodness. Datlow is hardcore. Some of these stories still pop back up in my brain months later and I shudder- in a good way. Some of them were too disturbing. Some of them were forgettable. All in all, I am a big time Datlow fan now.
I discovered authors whom I'd never heard of and now follow. What a treat. Kaaron Warren, Ray Cluley, Livia Llewellyn. The collection ended with a fun, charming story by Garth Nix. I haven't read him since high school and he is still great.

I've never encountered a bad collection from Datlow. Haven't read that one, but will move it up on the list. Her "Best Horror of the Year" collections are always top notch.
I read Lost Signals, stories of creepy transmissions of all kinds. Excellent collection, highly recommended if, like me, you love those bizarre radio signals on dark empty highways and sitting in dim light listening to numbers stations.
