The second book in the five-book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy “trilogy,” The Restaurant at the End of the Universe picks up after the earth-shattering events of the Hitchhiker's Guide with the adventures of Arthur Dent, Trillian, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Ford Prefect, and Marvin the Robot, as they haphazardly and for the most part unknowingly search for the ruler of the universe, crash into and dive out of tight scrapes, steal spacecrafts, and enjoy a meal and a cosmos-ending view at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. The book leaves everything up in the air for each of the main characters, whose adventures will continue in the third book, Life, The Universe, and Everything.

I first read the Hitchhiker's Guide books many, many years ago and have held their zany satire close to my heart ever since. I love Douglas Adams' sense of humor and treasure the gift of these stories he left for all of us. I am finding my re-read of his novels very enjoyable and soothing.
