Kelly I stumbled across this challenge in a Facebook book group and I'm so pleased I did. I'm excited to get started! My Goodreads Reading Challenge 2021 is set for 60 books so I have chosen Mount Ararat so that I can read 48 of my TBR books and have 12 left over for new additions! Happy climbing, everyone!

Kelly 6. Ghostwritten by David Mitchell.

I can not make my mind up about this book! I kind of have a love-hate relationship with the ending. I was the same with Cloud Atlas, maybe it's the author I have a love-hate relationship with??

Kelly 7. Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks.

Serious book hangover after this one. It's just beautiful!

Kelly 8. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.

Another beautiful book! Loved it! Brilliantly written.

Kelly 9. A Whole New World by Liz Braswell.

Meh! So-so. 3 stars.

Kelly 10. Swing Time by Zadie Smith.

3.5 stars. I saw a review on here which said Smith should write less and say more, and I have to agree. This book touched on issues of race, class, gender and identity but skimmed the surface of each issue without fully investigating them. I was very invested in the characters but the ending left me wanting; I needed to know more about their motives.

Kelly 11. Thinner by Stephen King.

4 stars. I enjoyed this book! Very creepy with a theme of revenge which makes you think.

Kelly 12. Washington Black by Esi Edugyan.

This was 4 stars for me. It was a surprisingly easy read and I loved the main character, Washington 'Wash' Black, he will stay with me for a long time. It's not a 5 star read as some of the plot lines were implausible and I'm still confused by what happened to one particular character!

Kelly 13. Quichotte by Salman Rushden

What on earth did I just read?? And why did I enjoy it?! 4 stars.

message 17: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 14. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

4 stars. Took me a while to get into this one but I'm glad I persevered!

Kelly 15. The Unquiet by John Connolly.

I love the Charlie Parker series and book number 6 of the series did not disappoint. 4 stars.

Kelly 16. The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King

One of the very few SK books that I've never read before. It has links to the Dark Tower series and IT. I don't think it's his best work but I enjoyed it. 4 stars.

Kelly 17. Skeleton Crew by Stephen King

3 stars. Some of the short stories were great, most were okay, some were just downright confusing!

message 21: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 18. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Wow. Just wow! I loved this! Evelyn Hugo has to be one of the most compelling characters I have ever read! I laughed, I cried, I gasped in shock and surprise. I couldn't put it down, it's just brilliant! 5 stars.

message 22: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 19. The Beach by Alex Garland

This has been on my TBR forever! A good, solid 4 star read for me. The perfect story about what happens when a utopia turns sour!

message 23: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 20. The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera

3 stars. I understood what the author was trying to achieve but it fell short for me. One dimensional characters that I cared nothing for. The events of the novel should have moved me to tears but I felt nothing.

message 24: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 21. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

A nice, easy, fun read, despite the writing being amateurish at times. 3 stars.

message 25: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 22. Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Another fun read from the Caraval series. 4 stars.

message 26: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 23. Finale by Stephanie Garber

Another 4 star read. I enjoyed the Caraval trilogy, even though I thought I shouldn't!

message 27: by Kelly (new)

Kelly 24. IT by Stephen King

A horror classic! 5 stars!
