2025 & 2026 Reading Challenge discussion

Hi readers. Could you please suggest some good books on Climate Change? Global or in any specific part of the world. A book that talks about the hazards, solutions and the way forward without selling into any political agendas.
With 2021 I really want to focus on this aspect of our existence and also start creating awareness about it.

Sorry, I can't think of too many that don't have political agendas. However, a book that did touch on this topic that wasn't overly political (I gave it 4 stars, so I doubt it was since normally I dislike science mixed with politics) was Where the Water Goes: Life and Death Along the Colorado River but it doesn't look at everything with climate change, rather it shows just how complex things really are with solutions, causes, etc etc :). It may have had something in there as I have a niggling thought about it, but as I said, 4 stars from me means it couldn't have been strong.

If you ever find one that actually looks fairly at the different theories as to why we are having climate change I'd love to know about it. I just saw this and realize this is months old, but in case you are getting notified when people reply I am adding this.

Bill Gates’ “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster” did a great job of breaking down this complicated subject in a facts-only, apolitical way.

A word of caution :) I jumped on this one since I'd like to find an apolitcal book on it, but over 50 people have shelved this this politics, so it might be that while it's not overtly political that it still takes a certain slant :) Plus I have met people with master's degrees in meteorology who don't all totally agree with the cause(s), so my goal is to find one that discusses it and all the possible causes, plus the idea that it could be combination of them :)

i agree, i think the topic of climate change itself is so politically inclined somehow that it'll be extremely difficult to find a book that is completely apolitical. i would not be able to read 5 different books on different causes, so i was hoping to find 1-2 good ones that would touch upon the causes and effects of all factors even if not in too much detail.

I've read several books about climate change. Bibliophile, maybe one of these will work for you.

The Story of More: How We Got to Climate Change and Where to Go from Here by Hope Jahren. This is an excellent primer about climate change - science-based and yet very accessible.

A Life on Our Planet: My Witness Statement and a Vision for the Future by David Attenborough - articulate and science-based. This is the one that I enjoyed the most, a lot of which because I'm a fan of Attenborough.
