Would you recommend this book? Yes, definitely!

Lilith (lilithp) | 1120 comments Title: If They Come for Us
Author: Fatimah Asghar
Would you recommend this book? Yes,definitely!! I can't say enough to describe all the feelings you get when you read this book. Each poem is like a short story, and packs an emotional wallop. First book in a long time I’ve read, that I *had* to reread immediately. And I did! Fatimah Asghar’s poetry is that evocative.

I will be thinking about this, and rereading this, in 10 years.
Don't miss it.

Title: The Other Americans
Author: Laila Lalami
Would you recommend this book?
Yes! I've been wanting to read a book by Lalami for a few years now. Then a few weeks ago I finished my audiobook sooner than I expected and needed a new one, so I searched my Overdrive wishlist for titles available now, and this was available! It was a great audiobook, too. I will definitely be reading more books by this author!!

Title: The Moor's Account
Author: Laila Lalami

Would you recommend this book?

Yes, if you like a book with a historical background about the power of stories. What does a slave think of the Spanish colonization of the Americas? What does he think of the way the Spanish treat the native Americans?

Title: Accidentally Engaged

Author: Farah Heron

Would you recommend this book?
Yes. This was an enjoyable rom-com set in Toronto. This follows the fake fiancé trope to appease family pressure and adds a reality cooking show for couples into the mix. There's a couple recipes at the end that I have yet to try.

Johanna Ellwood (jpellwood) | 236 comments Title: Ayesha at Last
Author: Uzma Jalaluddin
Would you recommend this book? Definitely! I was at a loss as to what to read for this prompt so I was glad to see it as this month's read. I have been in a reading slump lately, and I finished this in a little over a day.

Britany | 1778 comments Title: A Place for Us
Author: Fatima Farheen Mirza
Would You Recommend? If you love a slow character development novel then absolutely. It frustrated me at times and I was disappointed as I had such high hopes for this book, but the long chapters and changing timelines left me lacking.

Author: Uzma Jalaluddin
Would you recommend this book? Probably yes, if someone was looking for reworkings of 'Pride and Prejudice' with a slightly different spin!

message 10: by Trish (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) Title: The Things I Would Tell You: British Muslim Women Write
Author: Various, but edited by Sabrina Mahfouz (who also contributed)
Would you recommend this book? Yes. It offers a number of different perspectives from a diverse group of Muslim women.

sanju (sunny_k1004) | 10 comments Title: Other Words for Home
Author: Jasmine Warga
Would you recommend this book? Absolutely yes! A very quick middle-grade read written in verse!

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 20 comments Title: A Woman is No Man

Author: Etaf Rum

Would you recommend this book? Yes, it was really well written and I enjoyed all the perspectives. I felt it could have been 100 pages longer, there was so much left unresolved at the end.

Gabriella David (gabyneedstoreadmore) | 3 comments Title: A thousand splendid suns
Author: Khaled Hosseini
Would you recommend this book? YES.

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments Title: Ayesha at Last
Author: Uzma Jalaluddin
Would you recommend this book? Yes, to those who enjoy romances. I liked the Muslim parts that taught me new things, but the romance parts didn't quite work for me.

message 15: by Yvette (new)

Yvette Roberts | 18 comments Title: The Family Tree
Author: Sairish Hussain
Would you recommend this book? It's worth a read. It's the debut novel from a British Muslim author from Bradford, England; about a Muslim family living in Bradford. It would also fit for the book featuring three generations prompt.
