How should the US approach healthcare in a way that is most effective for the most amount of people? Personally I find price controls and a Medicare for all policy to be a good step in the right direction but at this point it might be too late and too little

How American Health Care Killed My Fatherhttps://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/...
In this editorial the author guts both insurance and "medicare for all", instead making a solid argument for free market medicine with government support for catastrophes and the poor.
I think in the wake of COVID and the absolute shortcomings of the free market healthcare system that the US has proven itself to be I think that this has proven itself outdated
Overall time and time again socialized healthcare systems have proven themselves to be superior to free market healthcare in both metrics of price and effectiveness and user experience. Not only that, but the majority of Americans prefer a more socialized healthcare system.

Except that’s just not what’s been happening theoretically or empirically. Those with universal public healthcare systems and robust price controls haven’t been going bankrupt or experiencing breadlines. They’ve experienced increased quintiles of life as well as being more equipped to handle pandemics.

Hell even America has one. It's called the VA.

Despite all of this they were STILL better equipped at handling COVID than the US.
