message 1: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) February is a debut book of a famous author. That could be very interesting!

message 2: by Christina (new)

Christina Will “Someone to Watch Over Me” from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas work?

message 3: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) It looks like her first novel was Where Passion Leads, so that wouldn't work.

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) I am going to read The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. I have meant to read it for years and bought an e-book copy a while back.

I am really having a problem getting into this book right now. I am changing to Amy and Isabelle by Elizabeth Strout.

message 5: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) No worries! Christina wrote: "Wait. Lol. A famous authors first book. Duh. My bad. I’m tired."

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books, Brynn. I named my daughter Brontë after Charlotte Brontë.

Katherine (katscribefever) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë I'm finally going to read Jane Eyre; I own multiple film versions and a really lovely edition of the novel, but I've never gotten around to reading it--until now!

message 18: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Green Hicks (kelly's bookish world) John, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I just wanted to let you know that Delia Owens and her ex-husband wrote some non-fictions books before she wrote this. Cry of the Kalahari was the first one.

John wrote: "I'm reading Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens."

Christina Changed my mind on the book for this month. So now I am reading The Thomas Berryman Number by James Patterson. His Women’s Murder Club series is one of my favorites ever. So here we go with three days left!

message 26: by Sara (new)

Sara Kreps I'm reading the emperor's candlesticks by baroness orkzy

message 27: by Christina (new)

message 28: by John (new)

John Willis I missed that Kelly (that is why you are the librarian). Bummer too, cause Where the Crawdads Sing was great. I did read Imbolo Mbue's book Behold the Dreamers this month. I think that is her first book.

Sara Kreps Sara wrote: "I'm reading the emperor's candlesticks by baroness orkzy"

I read a knock-off printing of this book but the story itself was pretty fun, almost slapstick much of the time.

message 32: by Kelly (new)

message 33: by John (new)

John Willis Kelly, I really enjoyed Behold the Dreamers. The characters were very well written and it brought out quite a few topics like immigration/economics/poverty/gender roles/abuse/honesty etc. I felt like I could relate to the characters and was sad to be at the end of the book. I will definitely be looking at future books by this author.
