Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments This month selection:

Girl A by Abigail Dean , Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers , Infinite Country by Patricia Engel , The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah , The Kindest Lie by Nancy Johnson

What did you pick?

message 2: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Schmidt (schmidtyoushouldread) | 68 comments Four winds for my BOTM and Girl A as an add on!

message 3: by Elsa (last edited Jan 30, 2021 11:54AM) (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments Those are the two I was thinking as well! Great minds and all. LOL

However I noticed that all the selections are not very happy stories.

there's family abuse, then marriage and second thinking, then a family separated from one another, then we have a depression era story and finally going back to to her hometown to face her past.

I might have to order one from another month, as my thirds choice, something a little more peppy and happy.

Brittney Schmidt (schmidtyoushouldread) | 68 comments Yes! I can’t wait!!

message 5: by Emily (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 5 comments I rarely RARELY get more than one book a month, but I went with three this month!

The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah Girl A by Abigail Dean Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers

Really debated Infinite Country, but decided I wanted The Four Winds more... I may see how the review for Infinite Country look and add it on in March.

message 6: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Schmidt (schmidtyoushouldread) | 68 comments Same!! But I know Kristin Hannah will be a fast read so I’ll need something to keep me busy after I finish that one in 2 days lol

message 7: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Schmidt (schmidtyoushouldread) | 68 comments How are you guys posting photos on here?

message 8: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments you see the green "add book/author" right above the comment box?

if you click on it you type in the title of the book you want and at the bottom of the pop up box you have book cover or link. If you want the pic of the cover select the cover if you want just the name of the book then you hit link. If you click on either after you post it goes to the books page so they're both basically a link, just one have the pic of the cover.

Oh, yea I don't see it on the app. You have to be on the site. Sorry, not sure how to add the covers using the app, I don't really use the app, I prefer the site.

I'm so jealous of how many books you got! I hope you love them all!

message 16: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments I didn't see those add ones last month, do they list them later in the month?

message 17: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments I've never seen We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen nor Send for Me by Lauren Fox

message 18: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1984 comments I think they were both new this month, as ad-ons

message 19: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1984 comments when I go to the "all books" on Bookofthemonth - 2nd shelf down is called "New and recent add-ons"

I've never read a Hildebrand book, so I figured I'd go with the one I'd seen most in IG posts. The Great Pretender is something I want to read, because I have a mental illness, and such books are always of interest to me.

I read The Great Pretender The Undercover Mission That Changed Our Understanding of Madness by Susannah Cahalan and really liked it - I found it so interesting because I'd never heard of the study! and I really like the author. I hope you love it!

I really liked it as well. There were a couple chapters that I thought didn't correlate very well to the initial premise but I also found it all interesting. There are some great quotes too. This would probably be an excellent book club choice.

I'm excited to see what people think about Girl A, I almost got that one but went for Infinite Country.

message 25: by Madeline (new)

Madeline | 80 comments I chose Infinite Country and then Black Buck and The Turn of the Key.

I used to have two accounts but then now I have 30 BOTM books on my TBR shelf so I figured I should cancel. But, it is definitely hard to only get three some months. $35 for three hardcover books is a steal!

message 26: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 23 comments Since I'm taking my sweet time with The Prophets and Piranesi, I'm thinking I'll skip this month. A couple look really interesting (Infinite Country, in particular) but they'll still be there as Add-ons next month.

message 27: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1984 comments Sometimes it's good to take a month off. Like you said, they'll be there next month, for sure, and that way you won't feel the pressure of books on a shelf just waiting for you! LOL I know that pressure well
I'm really going to try to get through my older BOTM picks this year!

message 28: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Gaetje I chose Girl A! I wasn't that impressed with the choices but I didn't want to skip a month because I've never really been into reading that much but I want to read more and this is a good deal, so why not continue? I'm still new to the subscription so I wanted to take advantage of it. I enjoy books that are suspenseful, psychologically thrilling, and unsettling, which this book is, so I can't wait to read it!

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Conner Girl A by Abigail Dean Goodnight Beautiful by Aimee Molloy

I got Girl A as my BOTM and then added on Goodnight Beautiful - they'll both be added to be TBR stack in my room.. along with the last 6 months of books :)

message 30: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1984 comments lol I have months and months from the last 2 years stacked in my TBR so you're among friends! LOL

I loved Goodnight Beautiful - I thought it was a great twisty story!

Kate Porter (kateempee) | 6 comments I got "Girl A" - I don't exactly want to say that I enjoyed it because it was an emotionally difficult book at points, but it was a really gripping story

Vivi (vivi91) | 18 comments I got Girl A and Infinite Country ...which I would had added on The Push

I don't have book of the month but I chose The Four Winds. It was between that and Girl A, but Girl A wasn't available to me. I've been meaning to get to this author. I've been doing so much genre reading and listening, I just feel like this one will be at a different pace than anything lately, and different from what I've been writing. So, looking forward to it. Thanks for asking.

message 39: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 716 comments Girl A was sad but good. Great read. I gave it a 5. Sad twist toward the end.
