Currently reading The Genius of Birds by Jennifer AckermanRecently finished Day for Night by Jean McNeil which does explore a same sex (m/m) attraction between 2 of the characters though the story doesn't really revolve around that relationship. It was a good book if you like a lot of internal character reflection, not so much external events driving the plot.
Currently listening to educated by Tara westover; brilliant and gripping so far! Also physically reading these violent delights by Chloe gong which is also a lot of fun so far
Carried over Muriel Spark's The Mandelbaum Gate from January, along with Virginia Woolf's Night and Day.
I'm listening to Eley Williams' short story collection Attrib. and other stories and am blown away. Stunning command of language, playful with words. Lesbian author; stories are accessible to anyone.
I finished The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson last night and I'm still recovering from the emotional turmoil it caused. I enjoyed it a lot but it broke my heart. Looking forward to starting the second book in the series!
Finished Totempole. It really speaks to the struggles of coming to terms with ones sexuality. Written in the 1960s it has been buried til 2015. Hope anyone interested in Queer Lit will make the time to read it.
Im currently reading ”The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” by Mackenzi Lee. I’m halfway through and i LOVE it!
Only 50 pages in to 99 Erics: a Kat Cataclysm faux novel and I already want to give it 5 stars. Smart and funny.“But now you realize that you don‘t fit into queer communities either. Maybe it‘s not that you‘re queer. Perhaps your problem is that you‘re simply weird. Not just with regards to your sexual orientation. But in a more systemic way.”
I'm taking advantage of the freebie for this book and am about to start Tony's Dream: A Gay Tale of Desire, Deceit & Death in Montreal by Patrick Doyle
Katie.dorny wrote: "Just starting a dutiful boy by Mohsin Zaidi"Planning to read this alongside We Have Always Been Here: A Queer Muslim Memoir by Samra Habib. I've heard they're both brilliant!
Just finished Carol: The Price of Salt - I really liked it but have just read some hideous things about the author...
Started the memoir Lot Six by David Adjmi. I had not heard of the author previously; a bit... overdone, but I can deal with that.
Also The Paradox of Porn: Notes on Gay Male Sexual Culture by Don Shewey, on recommendation by a mutual friend.
Ingrid wrote: "I’m currency reading “Swimming in the Dark”. Fantastic gay novel."Once I got past the use of second-person "you" I really liked the (audio) book!
Rereading “Bachelor Brothers’ Bed & Breakfast” by Bill Richardson. For the umpteenth time. My go to comfort read!
Finished Bryan Washington's Memorial over the weekend. It's a thoughtful book. Look forward to reading more from this author.
Just finished The Guest List and Boyfriend Material. Boyfriend Material was one of the more “sophisticatedly” written YA gay romance novel. I enjoyed the broad spectrum of gays and the normalization that there isn’t just one type. It was an entertaining and feel-good read. I recommend! Now onto Untamed... :)
My review of A Gracious Plenty, which does have an LGBT subplot...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
