I've read this book meanwhile 3 times and I'm still blown away. It definitely changed the way I look at epic Fantasy. But the reader must come prepared that the first two hours are mainly descriptions of battles/fighting.
I am reading the third in the serie right now for my longest book on my TBR.That 1st one is very good, but as Gaby said, the beginning can scare a bit with the long descriptions.
My longest TBR is #4 in the series, Rhythm of War, and I'm excited to get back to the series. I read The Way of Kings in 2016 and I remember devouring the book. It wasn't a slog at all as the story unfolded.
Milestone update: I passed 10% this weekend. So far, I am liking Shallan's storyline more than Kaladin's.
Well, I gave it a fair shot, but after 200 pages, I've concluded that this is not the book or series for me. Some parts are interesting, but none of the viewpoint characters in Part II are appealing to me, and Kaladin's story is coming across to me like Spartacus with more suffering. For those of you who enjoy this book, I am glad for you, and I wanted to share a link to the Tor reread:

It assumes you have read the first book but does not give plot details for the next three books.
This could be of the best books I have ever read. I am on the 3rd book Oathbringer and yes it is on my TBR longest list:)

I made my way through the prelude, prologue, and Chapter 1 today. So far, it seems like an interesting setting, and the prologue battle and use of magic were very well done.
