Steffi walks around the bend quickly. She’s hurrying to get to her friend Calypso’s house. The pair have never met in person, but Steffi’s so excited she could burst.
Calypso paces back and forth anxious for Steffi to arrive but nervous that her brother's will get in the way. Just then she hears a knock and springs up to answer it.
"H-hello," she says with a smile on her face.
Steffi is standing on the porch, tugging on her choppy short hair. She smiles, a dimmed brightness in her blue eyes. Over the years, Steffi has seen more than she needs to, and is lucky she even has any happiness left in her.
"Come in!" Caly says with a welcoming smile. She showed her around her room. "I have too many fairy lights for my own good," Calypso says jokingly.
Steffi smiles again. “Nah, you’re good. I used to want--?” Steffi stutters as a portal opens in the middle of Calypso’s bed. The gaping hole seems to have stairs.
Calypso's eyes light up and she looks like she is going to jump in. "We have to go Steffi!" She says excitement written across her features.
“Uhhareyoucrazy??” Steffi slurs. Just then, a head of strawberry blonde hair pops up. “Oh. Is this Earth?” Dex asks.
"Yes," she said addressing both Steffi and Dex. Caly grabbed her messager bag, guitar, journal and some books. "We have to go!" Calypso said her face bright and determined. She started jumping up and down on the balls of her feet her frizzy brown hair bobbing along. She was ready to jump it, but not without Steffi.
Steffi grins, being the reckless girl she is. She grabs Caly’s hand and they race through the gaping black hole.
She jumps in head feet first ready for an adventure of a life time. She smiles at Steffi, "Ready!"
Steffi smiles back, and they tumble into the ground. “Um. Hi. I’m D-” Dex starts to say.
"Calypso! But you can call me Cal!" She says to Dex. Caly gives Steffi a look like 'can-you-belive-it-this-is-crazy-KOTLC-is-real'
“And I’m Steffi. Nice to meet you. Where’s Sophie and the others?” Steffi asks with a manic grin.
"O-others?" Dex said confused.
"Yeah like Tam!" Calypso chimes in with an equal manic grin.
“But we like you too, don't worry.” Steffi says with a wink.
Calypso tries to hold back a laugh. "Yeah of course we like you!" Caly said smiling brightly
Dex blinks. “okaaaaaay. How do you know where you are?”
Calypso thrust her arms in her messenger bag and pulled out her phone, looked up her audiobook collection of keeper of the lost cities then showed Dex.
“I’m SO confused right now.” Dex starts muttering to himself. “This is what I get for using one of my gadgets.”
Calypso laughs “Well…” she says thinking “Let’s go!” Dex led the way to wherever they were going.
“So…. what are your names?” Asks Dex.
"Calypso but feel free to call me Cal!" Calypso says enthusiastically
“Okay. Hi, Cal. I’m Dex, but somehow you already know me. Are you a telepath?”
Calypso laughed "No!" She said "You are one of my favorite book characters" Cal says smiling brightly as ever.
“Huh. Sophie should be able to fix this. What’s it like on Earth?”
"Well Earth is alright I guess...We have good music!" Calypso says honestly
“Like what? I have a gadget that connects me to this thing-y called spotify!” He says
"HAMILTON!" Calypso says with way to much enthusiasm "I mean um- H-hamilton is alright I guess"
“Uh-huh. How about you, Steffi?” He asks. “I like this girl named Sabrina Carpenter.”
"Where are we going?" She asked observing all of the shops.
“We’re going to Sophie’s house.” Dex said, grabbing their hands.
Cal starts fangirling. "NO! FRICKIN'! WAY!" she smiles widely.
Dex smiles back and light leaps them away.
Calypso, Steffi and Dex arrive at Havenfield. “Aces…” Cal says observing the long stretch of green field, the mass amount of mythical creatures, the panakes tree with its branches fluttering softly in the wind. The tall glass building a mix between elegance and chaos with the golden house. Overlooking the ocean and vast-expanses of the pastures fenced-in. Her breath hitched at the sight before her.
“Welcome to-” Dex starts.
"Havenfeild--" Calypso cuts him off with a breathless word
“YOU KNOW THAT TOO???!!” Dex screams.
Calypso waves the book in front of him. "Yup!" She says smiling
Dex shakes his head and sighs.
Calypso pets the cover a bit. "T-they are good books…" she says honestly.
“SO who do you have a crush on?” Dex asks.
“Wouldn’t you want to know.” she says with a smirk.
“Okay. I just want to make sure you don't have one on me. I like Linh.”
“Awwwww…” Cal says fangirling. “No I don’t have a crush on you.” She said adding emphasis on 'you'.
“She has one on Tam (like me)” Steffi says, smiling
Calypso blushed. “Steffi!” she says playfully. It was true she did have a crush on Tam.
Steffi had a crush on Tam, also, but wasn’t about to admit that. “So, Dex, how do you like saving the world?” She asked. ((Oooh love triangle XD))
Calypso looked eager for him to answer. She had spent her entire life searching for something more than this boring and mundane world. "Do you think that we would be able to help you?" Calypso said excitedly.
“Uh. Well I didn’t like it at first, but i'm happy to help.” ((we’re at HF so do you want to bring on another KOTLC person? YEAH! Let's do sophie Grady and ediline then after HF we can go crash a tergins place))
Just then Sophie came out. "Hey Dex! Who are these?" She said gesturing towards Steffi and Calypso. Cal smiles "I-I'm Calypso b-but you can call m-me Cal!"
“I’m Steffi, That’s Caly, and we’re from the Forbidden Cities!” Steffi Exclaims.
Sophie's jaw drops "Come in..we have much to discuss." She said cutting a glance at Dex. Caly looks at Steffi asking a silent question.
“Uhh. Sorry, Soph. I don’t think you’re really the mysterious miss foster.” Steffi says, backing away.
Calypso looks at Steffi. "Trust me," Sophie says. Cal gives the slightest of nods as if saying 'let's follow her but be on our guard.'
Steffi held her ground. “What did Keefe say to you the first time you met?”
"You're not supposed to be here!" She said with confidence.
“He asked if you were lost, imposter.”
Cal looked at Steffi, they bolted.
((DUDE I ONLY GET 3 A NIGHT I SWEAR MOST DAYS IM A ZOMBIE oooooooosH!))
“WHAT DO WE DO???!!” Steffi pants, running.
"Tergin's place" Caly said, keeping a level head. "We go to Tergin's place and think about our options there!" She said kind of rushed. She pulled out Dex's light leaper throwing a guilty glance his way. They leapt away.
They tumble out into...actually, Steffi didn’t know where. (pretty sure humans can't light leap idk a human has never tried to light leap before)
Calypso handed the light leaper to Dex. "H-here" she said guilty "Can you t-take us to Tergin's...please" Caly said with a half hearted smile at the end.
Dex smiles back, seeming dazed. “Sure.” They leap to Tergins.
They appear at Tergin's place with Tam, Linh and Wylie standing in the doorway...as if they were expected.
“Welcome, Calypso. Steffi. We’ve been expecting you for quite a long time.” Della said, stepping from the shadows.
They jump back in surprise “h-how did you know…??”
“We know a lot of things. Such as… you both are elves.” Tam turns and smiles at Calypso. “You have noticed you’ve been called to fires, right?” He then turns to Steffi. “And you… are a Shade. But you already knew that.”
Keefe steps out of the shadows. “And we didn’t want to come to you and say, “take my hand Calypso, let me show you where you truly belong.” he gives a weak smile.

Cal's eyebrows furrows, as if she is calculating something.
"What, Calypso?" Della asks, frowning.

She lurked back a bit, just enough for them to be out of earshot. "What is wrong? Don't deny it, tell whats wrong" Calypso said
"Well. This is a bit much, you know? I mean, just an hour ago we thought this place was just a book."
