Thorn (thornontherose) | 111 comments Lorien flew above the sands, squinting his eyes against the sand-filled wind whipping against her face. On his back, Lenna had a mask-like piece of cloth covering her nose and mouth. Her hair was filled with sand and she was pretty sure she'd be shacking sand out of the saddle for the next week.
They had been flying for almost a full day and, while they were getting close to Tarrin, they still had several miles of desert to cover. Preferably before the sun reached it's highest point in the sky and it got super hot.
Lori put on a burst of speed and they surged forward, catching an air current and soaring above the clouds, temporarily escaping the sandy wind. Lenna let out a sigh of relief and let her mask fall.

Thorn (thornontherose) | 111 comments As Tarrin approached in the distance, Lori dove back beneath the clouds. The wind had died down and it was now just strong enough to provide a steady air current for Lori to coast on. Lenna sat on Lori’s back, sharpening one of her many throwing stars. She knew she could merely pay a blacksmith to do it, but the Sky Rider preferred to do it herself. It gave her something to do while traveling and it helped her learn the balance of the blades. When Tarrin was less than a half mile away, Lorien dove down to the sands and landed, kicking up little clouds of sand as her talons hit the ground. Lenna jumped off his back and patted the dragon’s snout.
"I’ll be back in two hours, okay?" Lenna told her.
Lorien nodded. "I can hunt while you’re gone. Be safe."
"You too."

Lenna stepped back and started walking, pausing only to grab her satchel off of the saddle on Lorien’s back.
