Kingdom Of Eloral {{Semi-Advanced}} discussion
Ellie trudges along the cold ground, the ice pricking at her tan skin. The girl wasn't used to this coldness, missing the warmth of the sun. She scours the whit land, watching the citizens. There was a girl, maybe ten, walking with her mother. Maybe they were going to work, or to school. There was a little boy on the lake, crying. Ellie shiver and hugs her arms, shaking a bit in her wool robe. The female wanted to be with her sister, warm and content. But someone had to travel to the other, and Ellie wasn't about to stay with her devil of a father.
Haven was hanging around the town of Wintervale, having received a message from her source to come there so they could exchange information and goods. As a magician's apprentice, some of the materials she required for her experiments were hard to gather, so, along with paying her source for the goods they collect, she also pays them for the information on where and how, as well as anything else she needs to know at the time. Despite how shady it may seem, it was a legitimate trade and she trusted this source to get what she needed. She looked around curiously. She wore a long black coat and a white scarf. She waited at the agreed spot patiently before a small carrier pigeon came with a letter saying something had came up and that they should reschedule for tomorrow. She sighed. "Again, huh? He's never on time for our meetings and he always reschedules them." She said in a huff.
Ellie pulls her robe over tighter and walks outside to her shop. She opens up the wooden latch an lights the lanterns inside. The girl signs, letting her brown and white hair falling around her shoulders, framing her face. Sparkling, her almond eyes scour the room, making sure nothing broke in. She walks to the front. The shop was very small, just a little wall fllled with knicknacks and jewelry. She waits for someone to cone up. Business was always raging during the winter, people grabbing last minute items for their loved ones. So soon enough, A young man came up and bought a simple ring. Ellie thanks him as he walks off.
The female sighed and shivered. She needed to get some cover. She walked into the nearest shop and opened up, walking in. She rubbed her hands together, which were red from the cold. She glanced around before seeing Ellie. "Hey. Let me stay here for a bit to warm up. I'll buy something if it helps." She said, blowing onto her hands to warm them up. It didn't seem like the girl was very keen of the cold and the fact that she dressed so lightly instead of bundling up showed that she didn't really plan to stay out as long as she did.
Ellie nods. "You can stay. Feel free to buy or not to buy," the girl ads. She stokes the fire and pulls up a stool for the girl to sit on. "May I ask your name?" she asks the female gently. Her tanned skin was already starting to fade in the cold, but it was still there and noticeable. The female throws some coal and kindling into the fire, making it rise is a whoosh.
She quirked a brow and glanced at the female. She didn't seem to be from around here? After all, it was almost always cold in Wintervale. There wasn't enough time or sunlight to get a tan. "It's Haven." She answered truthfully, not really caring whether or not this stranger knew her name. After all, if they looked into it, the most they would find was some stuff about some slave girl. Which, essentially was what she was, a freed slave. "You don't seem to be from around here? Where are you from?" She asked curiously. Though, she could understand if the girl was cautious of her. After all, some girl elf with strangely colored hair and walked in and asked for shelter from the cold. Then again, unless this girl was some kind of beast-person who was capable of picking up the scents of elves, there would be no way they would know of her being an elf. After all, she was only half and she never really lived as an "elf." She had no idea what it was to be one and didn't plan to find out.
Ellie brings her a warm drink. "You're correct, I'm not. I lived in Marfolk, but I'm going to stay with my sister, not far from here," the female says. She glances at her tan skin, knowing it was a rarity around here. She also had here more smooth accent, while everyone here had more of a Geordie one. Carefully, she reorganized the shelf full of jewelry and sighs. It always gets messed up, as the necklaces get tangled oh so easily.
"Ah. Figures. I've been there once. A lot of people with tan skin. A far cry from here." She said. "I'm kind of glad I don't live in either places." She said as she stood near the fire, watching it quietly. "If you recommend something, I can buy it. I'm sure I can find someone to gift it to." she hummed as she yawned quietly. The female was rather tall and seemed to dress more like a male than a woman. Though, it was clear by her voice and a few of her features that she was indeed a woman.
Ellie smiles slightly, and tilts her head in thought. "Perhaps. Ah, one moment," she says and walks into the back. Ahe goes through rack of jewelry, clothing, until she finds what she was looking for. A simple blade, engraved with words written in code. It was a beautiful dagger, and seemed to fit the girl. "How does this look" Ellie wonders, handing it to her.
She looked at it and nodded. "It's a fine blade. How much?" She asked, looking at the younger girl. "I didn't get your name by the way." She hummed, looking up from the blade slightly. "Mind giving it to me?" she asked, not wanting to just call the girl 'Lady.'
She nods slightly. "Ellie," the girls answers. "And it's on the house," she goes back to her jewelry and finishes untangling the necklaces. Ellie frowns at a tight knot. "Really?" she mutters, annoyed. But she's done this many a time, so she quickly gets it lose.
She looked at the other female for a bit before nodding. She wasn't the type to really fight over silly stuff and be like 'no, i'll pay for it.' After all, in the end, those type of people just get it for free anyways. "Thank you." She hummed. She looked around. "Do you need a hand? My plans bailed on me, so I have a lot of free time I really do not know what to do with." She hummed. Despite how she seemed to be acting now, the girl was just looking for someone to tease and "bully."
She smiles a the other girl and nods slightly..Ellie had learned from her sister to always put on a smile, always show others the bright side of yourself. So that's what she did- until someone got on her nerves of course. But this woman hadn't done that yet so she nods again. In her best business talking to customer voice the few!ale says, " I would appreciate the help. I was going to go through a recent bundle of clothing I bought."
"Alright great. I can't promise that I'll be any good, but I'll do my best. Just give me direct directions and I'll probably be good." She hummed. She took off her coat and folded it around her arm. She looked around curiously. "Just to make sure. There are no magical items here, right?" She asked, quirking a brow.
Ellie nods. "No magical items. Ones that people can see anyways," she ads coyly. "And I thank you for your help. Just sort them by color. I like the aesthetic," she says.
"Alright. I can't be around magical items, so it's good to know." She said. She started doing what she said, sorting them by color. She didn't really say much while she did so, not having much to say.
Ellie starts to sort as well, lost in thought, mostly about her sister. How would she react when she found she was here? What about her father? Ellie sighs, and decides not to overthink it.
The female hummed the tune from song Sirens to herself as she sorted. She finished rather quickly before glancing toward Ellie. "Anyways, Miss Ellie. You run this store by yourself?" She asked
Ellie nods. "Yes, it's self owned. My sister is going to be helping me around when I meet her. At least, I think she will," Ellie frowns. Then she shakes her head. "But you don't want to hear about that."
"I mean, I asked, so I can't really complain on what kind of information you give me." She hummed. She looked over at the girl. "I take it, other than your sister, you do not plan to really hire anybody?" She asked the girl, quirking a brow.
Ellie nods. "It's a small business. Doesn't really need many people," she tells the girl. "If someone ass, then I'd let them though," she decides you. "But I'm not going to go look for people."
"Reasonable." She hummed. "Are you sure you want your shop in Wintervale though? Sure, there isn't much competiton, but in a place like this, people typically focus more on necessities than anything else. And not many people come here to just tour the place. You may not get many customers." She advised, waiting for the female's reaction.
"It's not my first choice, yes. But it's for my sister. This is her home and I'm not going to let her leave everything behind," she says firmly.
"Ah, makes sense then." She hummed, sitting down criss-cross apple sauce. "I take it your sister really loves this town? Or does she have loved ones here?" THe girl asked. She seemed to mainly be trying to make small talk.
"She doesn't have anywhere else to go. And neither do I," she says crisply, dropping the subject. She ant to laugh. What lived ones? Their dead mother? Drunk father?
She looked at the female for a moment. She was a bit hesitant but thought she may as well ask. "Would you two like somewhere else to go..?" She asked. She knew all too well how it felt when your options were limited and the only ones you had weren't all that favorable.
She raises her brows, surprised. "Like what?" Ellie asks carefully. "We don't have enough to buy another dwelling," th girl ads.Was he offering a place to stay, or suggesting one?
She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, clicking it back. "Like a place to stay and set up shop. I'm a magician's apprentice, so I get paid quite a bit. This type of place is a difficult place to do business and neither does it seem like a very favorable place to live. Y'know, this is one of its warmer days, right? Not to mention, the prices here can be pretty high because there is more demand than there is the product. If you really don't have much as you said, you won't last very long here. I imagine with how hard it is to get supplies here as well, stuff like fruits and vegetables and even meat might be a bit difficult to attain at times too." She added. The people who lived there needed to be tough, they had family there. But, based on what this girl said, there was nothing tying her and her sister down there other than it's the only place they have to go.
Ellis ponders her offer. Would it be better? It must be, and Ellis despised the cold. "Okay," she says finally.
"Great. I live in the capital. Do you have any idea when you and your sister will be ready to leave?" She asked, tilting her head. She didn't mind if it took a few months or anything like that. She could always just come back to pick them up
"That's perfectly fine! I'll be leaving in a week anyway. My guy rescheduled on me so I might as well use the time to tour around the place." She hummed. "We can also always come back for your sister when she's done as well."
"No need to. Think of it as payment for the weapon. No one is willing to sell me any weapons in the capital anymore so it's hard to find any good quality ones. I probably would have paid you a bunch of gold just for this." She hummed in honesty. "Plus. You guys will be staying at my house. I don't use it often and I don't want my landlord to start letting people stay there for the money as they did with my neighbor. So, you'd be doing me a favor by staying there. You can use the old building owned by my previous master. It used to be a medicine shop, but it's just piling up junk at this point." She hummed. "I just happened to have the resources to help you out, so don't think too much about it. Plus, you'd be helping me keep my house from being used by strangers, and to use the shop you'll have to clear out a bunch of junk. Of course, you could also sell whatever is in there." she added.
She nodded and went back over to the fire, holding her hand out to it. "Do you know anywhere I can buy some winter clothes? I didn't bring any with me. I was planning to just drop in and then drop out." She asked.
"I have some here actually," Ellie says and walks to the back of the shop. She had a strange talent that she could know someone's size just by looking at them. "This should suffice," she tells her.
She nodded and put them on. "Thanks a lot, love. I don't tend to think things through sometimes." She hummed, rubbing her hands together. It seemed as though the female wasn't very used to the cold, at all. "Anyways. How old are you? I need to know I'm not kidnapping some fourteen-year-old." She asked.
Ellie laughs lightly. "Seventeen, almost eighteen. But I was always more the parent," she sighs and walks away for a quick second. When she returns she has a bracelet. "Here. I think this will suit you. And it's handy in a struggle. Dimond, one of the hardest things in the world," the girl ads.
She looked at it cautiously. "'Handy in a struggle?' I assume it's not a magical item, right?" She asked, though, she took it and put it on anyways.
"No, but it can cut through just about anything," she answers, tucking a strand of hair behind her ears. "Might help you some day. On the house."
