I guess I didn't really think about Luke's frame of mind. I was so surprised that Anna was the murderer. I never saw that coming.
It would have been difficult for the reader to work out the killer in this one as we weren't given all the information to work it out. Given what the mother did to get back at her son's victims' families I'd say there was some thread of psychopathy running through the family.
That Anna being a murderous sociopath meant her son probably was, too? Possibly. Even if she wasn’t, that kind of behavior in a child sure seems like crazy. I think she had a point.
I don't know if Luke was criminally crazy, but he was off. He had to pay for his actions. I never suspected Anna as the murderer. That knocked me for a loop. Marsons is good at keeping the actual murderer hidden until the end or close to it. Anna was a sociopath for sure. I don't think they have the death penalty in England, but she is a good candidate.
