Kingdom Of Eloral {{Semi-Advanced}} discussion
Labrynthine grunted angrily as Tiernan pushed her back with her tail. I wanna go play! she thought angrily. The little she-dragonet leaped up and tried to fly over Tiernan's tail but failed and landed on her back, struggling to stand back up.
Moma! Can I please go play?? she leapt at Tiernan who growled If you want to get your tail bitten, the older dragons don't like it when little dragonets invade their space Labrynthine puffed out smoke from her nose and sat down, she peered out of their stable and saw Charvynth staring.
Ronna had been recently hired by the Council as an official bounty hunter, and she didn't want to lose her job, but she also liked having money. If someone was willing to pay her way too much cash to steal a dragon egg, then she was going to spend her Friday night stealing a dragon egg instead of getting wasted at her favorite local tavern. So far, things were going according to her plan. The stables were empty, and her satchel was big enough to fit the egg without Ronna worrying that she was going to break it. Now all she needed to do was sneak out of the palace undetected and get paid.
Monica kissed Fiel goodbye and walked to go do her nightly check of the castle. It was huge, so obviously it took a lot if time, as Sid all her jobs. She sighs and walks through the castle. Ever since she had started dating Fiel she found herself having to be alert constantly. People are so prejudiced, you be er know. She walks to the dragon stables, her last stop.
After Ronna got her money, maybe she could still go to a tavern. The night was still young, and she was about to have a very good reason to celebrate. Taking one last look behind her, Ronna stepped out of the entrance to the stables and right into another person.
Uh oh.
Ronna looked at the person, hoping it wasn't someone she knew, or better yet, wasn't a guard. Double uh oh. Not only was Monica a guard, but she was very familiar with Ronna's less than legal antics. There was too much money on the line for Ronna to risk getting caught, so she would just have to trick Monica for long enough to escape.
"Monica! It's been so long! How are things?"
Monica freezes. "Ronna?" she says, tense in ever cor er of her body. She puts a hand on her sword. "What are you doing here?" she didn't trust Roanna one bit, and now she had something more to lose: Fiel. No way was she going to let her get hurt again. She she's learned to expect the worst in everyone. Roanna wasn't very morally compact. "You're not supposed to be in this room."
Monica really didn't trust her. Usually, this was something Ronna found to be amusing, but tonight there was too much at stake. She wasn't going to let Monica arrest her, no matter how amusing that would be.
"This is a public place, I can be here if I want," Ronna said, casually moving to lean against the wall next to Monica, shielding the bag behind her back before the girl had a chance to spot it. "You know how much I love to hang out with the dragons."
Ronna chuckled softly. Monica was always so straightforward, which made her that much more fun to mess with. Things were still on track, and Ronna was having fun, so maybe she could spend some time here messing with her favorite guard. The buyer would just have to deal with her being a little late.
"And that's the way I like it," she responded, casually tilting her body further towards the open doorway. It was always good to have a fast getaway option when angering Monica.
Great. Now Ronna was trapped and some dragon thing was trying to get to her stolen goods. She wasn't the biggest fan of animals in general, and those annoying little dragons were the worst of them. Ronna kicked the little dragon creature away from her with all of her considerable strength and turned back to Monica as if nothing had happened. She was going to have to rethink her strategy.
"I'm like the wind, Monica. I go where I please." She glanced at her surroundings for inspiration. "I'd never been down here before, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I now know that this place is boring, so I'm leaving."
"I don't believe you," she says suspiciously. She had her act on, the part that her mother, that Fiel never saw. The part of her that was cold, untrusting.
Ronna rolled her eyes. "Cool, whatever, believe what you want. As far as I'm aware, bumping into you isn't a punishable offense, so I'm gonna head out."
The little dragon thing was back and more annoying than ever. If Monica wasn't standing right there, she would take care of that thing the best way she knew- with a knife. Instead, she was stuck pretending that she had some morals. This was starting to get boring. Ronna didn't want to risk breaking the egg, but she was going to start throwing punches soon.
"Can you get this stupid thing off of my leg?" she asked Monica.
Monica rolls her eyes and picks the dragon up in her arms. "Happy?" she snaps, and moves out of the way, letting her pass.
"Not until I don't have to look at your ugly face anymore." Ronna couldn't help but insult her. It was just too easy. She stuck out her tongue at the dragon and turned to stroll out of the stables.
"I can't say this has been fun, but I always enjoy our little chats. Maybe next time we can argue over whether or not I killed someone."
Once Ronna was out of the doorway and she was sure that Monica wouldn't be able to catch her, she turned back for one final goodbye. This had been too easy, and she wanted to add a bit more of a challenge.
"Oh, and by the way, you were right. I stole an egg." Ronna gave a little wave then sprinted away from the guard at full speed.
Monica runs after her throwing off her armor and placing the dragon down. She tackled the girl, careful not to hurt the egg.
Monica was fast, faster than Ronna anticipated. She was quickly tackled to the ground, but the fight was just beginning. Ronna smiled viciously and threw back her elbow, hitting Monica right in the throat and throwing off her balance. She then shoved the other girl off of her and rolled to the side.
Monica scrambles for the eggs, rubbing her throat. "Shit," she mumbles as she realizes she ;left her sword.
Ronna didn't know what had gone wrong enough for Monica to curse, but whatever it was meant only good things for her. She slapped away Monica's hands as they reached for her satchel and kicked her farther away, giving her the couple of seconds she needed to get back on her feet.
"Yeah, I don't think so. I'm getting good money for this egg, and I'm not letting you have it."
Monica snarls and lunges at her. She weeps her off her feet, spraining her ankle, maybe even breaking it.
Ronna knew better than to mortally wound the captain of the guard, but she wasn't above killing a dragon creature in front of her. That slimy little monster had her money, and she was willing to do anything to get it back. Ronna pulled one of her knives out of her boot and swiped at the little monster, hoping to startle it into dropping the egg.
Monica pushes the girl onto the ground, grabbing both the dragon and egg. She ran as fast as she could, to the stables, and locking the doors.
Once the world stopped spinning, Ronna sat up and rubbed her head. Monica didn't have to push her down so hard, but she was nothing if not effective which Ronna could respect. She was up just fast enough to see Monica disappearing out the door with the egg, and she reached the door right as the lock clicked. She let out a heavy sigh and rubbed her head again.
"Man, that really hurt," she muttered to herself as she turned to head back into the stables. She wasn't too concerned with being trapped in with the dragon. She could take that thing in her sleep, and this gave her plenty of time to steal a new egg and pick the lock before Monica was back with reinforcements. Those dragons were like chickens based on the number of eggs sitting around in the stable, and her time on the run made Ronna passably good at picking locks.
Ronna got a new egg stuffed in her back and headed back to the exit. She got out the lockpicks that she kept in her boot in case of emergencies and started the tedious process of picking the lock.
Ronna almost had the door unlocked when she heard footsteps and the turn of the doorknob. Damn, Monica had returned faster than she had anticipated. Did she really have to be this obsessed with her job? It was really messing with her vibe.
"Oh hey Monica. Funny seeing you here again." Ronna just finished speaking when she slammed the door that Monica was still holding onto against her head and made a run for it again. This time she was confident that she would make it away.
Ronna felt Monica's hand close around the back of her tunic and slid to a stop before she fell over again. Clearly running wasn't a good strategy for her. Maybe she could tempt the stony guard with a cut of the profits. Everyone would be better off with some cash, so she was confident this would work.
"You caught me." She put her hands in the air and turned to face Monica. "How about you let me go for a cut of the money I'm getting for this egg. I'm sure you have a special someone in your life you want to dote on, and some cash would help."
Monica doesn't waver as she ties Roanna up and takes the egg. She ties up her legs, then muffled her.
This wasn't going according to plan at all. The night had been going so well, and now she was going to be arrested again. Of course, breaking out of the prison here was it's own fun, but Ronna would prefer being filthy rich. She felt pretty sure that she could convince the buyer to let her try again another day, and if not, she could just rob him. The options were limitless.
Monica wasn't the greatest at tying a gag, so Ronna was easily able to slip her mouth out of the cloth keeping her from talking. "You are so boring. I take back what I said about having a lover. Nobody would ever want to be with someone as dull as you. What a snoozefest."
Monica doesn't react. She thinks about Fiel, and how badly she had gotten hurt. She didn't give any of it away, or at least she tried not to.
Ronna wasn't sure if this tactic at flustering Monica was working. She had heard word on the street that the guard was in a relationship, and she didn't really have any other dirt or juicy information that she could use to get a reaction. She would just have to double down and try insulting the mystery partner instead of Monica herself.
"Or maybe they're even more boring than you. I can't really see you with anyone besides a human statue." She thought a bit more. This was not her day for heists or insults. "Wait a second, are you dating a real statue? I'm shocked, Monica! It's so unusual to see you going against society's standards."
Monica tenses a bit, her instinct to protect Fiel. But she was good by against societies standards. She was dating a female elf.
Ronna saw Monica tense, and smiled. She was finally getting somewhere. Maybe she would even be able to distract her enough to slip out of the restraints. Jailbreaks were fun, but Ronna preferred to spend her time aboveground. "Didn't like that one, did we? Maybe I need to go and find that lover of yours to confirm their status as a living person. Wanna give me a name or description?"
Not one to give up without a fight, Ronna continued to prod at Monica. "Come on, just a little description pretty please." As she spoke, she started to saw at her restraints with the fingernail she kept razor sharp just for situations like this. She really got arrested too often. "I won't hurt them, I just want to make fun of you."
The walk to the dungeon had given Ronna enough time to say through the bonds at her wrists, but she didn't want to give herself away too soon. She waited until she was locked in the cell to wrap her freed hands around the bars of her cell as she leaned towards Monica. She was happy to see that Monica had given her the cell that she had claimed several months ago, as she always kept backup supplies behind a loose stone in the wall. You never know when you'll need an outfit change or a spare knife.
"Oh come on. Pretty please? It's not like I can do anything about it right now. Just give me something to think about before you let me out of here."
