Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments This thread is to discuss Neverwhere, the first book in the London Below, The World of Neverwhere Series by Neil Gaiman.

Pages: 370 pages

Length: 1 Month (March)

Participants: Zeejane, Dominique, Rachael, Stuti, Sara, Jannene.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

Marleen | 962 comments This is one of my absolute favorite books, I hope you all enjoy it! And I might sneak in here for a reread if my March reading time allows for it :)

It's a reread for me my first novel from Neil and loved it!

Sara Hollingsworth | 286 comments I love Neil Gaiman but I've actually never read this one, so I'm excited.

Stuti Shah (books_a_latte) I’ve had this book on my shelf forever so I’m gonna get started soon!

I'm a big Neil Gaiman fan too! Haven't read Neverwhere until now though

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4786 comments Finished. Very gripping. I could not stop reading it because I had to know what happened. It's not one of my favourite Neil Gaiman books but I did enjoy it.
There is a short story How the Marquis Got His Coat Back which is set just after the events of Neverwhere. I'm going to read that next

Stuti Shah (books_a_latte) This was my first Neil Gaiman book and honestly I wasn't sure what to expect. I read it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down and I wanted to find out what happened! I enjoyed it but not as much as I expected.

Dominique | 1242 comments Finished still a 5 stars.

(view spoiler)

The first time aftervreading the book, I watched the tv series, it was good.

Jannene | 868 comments Finished. I gave it 3 stars. I had a hard time getting into it. I did like it once I did but had to switch to audio to really like it.

Jannene | 868 comments You know, I think I would have rather colored Neverwhere and not read it.

Dominique | 1242 comments Zeejane (Sara) wrote: "I might have to listen to the audio-book at some point, I really enjoyed the print version but I love a good audio-narration!

Dominique-I didn't realize there was a tv series, I'll have to look it..."

There's also a BBC radio version with Benedict Cumberbatch! That would be an intersting audio to listen to.

Sara Hollingsworth | 286 comments Finished this! I'm not sure it's my favorite Neil Gaiman book. It's very Wonderland-esque, and it got a little overwhelming. That said, I still enjoyed it overall. I really loved Door. And the Marquis was fascinating.

Also @Zeejane (Sara), like you were thinking, I also decided to use this for the Readathon since it was published in 1996.

And I'm curious to check out the radio show now too! I'd love to hear Cumberbatch read this.
