Since I think that Salt was my suggestion, I volunteer to lead the discussion.
My recommendations (and I will lead either discussion if one is chosen):
The Dog Stars
A Visit from the Goon Squad
My recommendations (and I will lead either discussion if one is chosen):
The Dog Stars
A Visit from the Goon Squad
I'd like to suggest All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, and The Invention of Wingsby Sue Monk Kidd. I'd be willing to lead the discussion for either of these.
I read an interesting book recently by George Friedman called,The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century. Not sure if it is too heavy for the group though. I would also suggest, Before the Dawn: Recovering the Lost History of Our Ancestorsby Nicholas Wade. It was fascinating. I would of course be willing to lead a discussion if they are chosen. Forgive my double posting. I just noticed how to add the book. :-)
I was also going to suggest All the Light we Cannot See! I'll offer up two others: Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void by Mary Roach and Claire of the Sea Light by Edwidge Danticat. Happy to moderate if chosen.
I suggest Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her or So We Read On: How The Great Gatsby Came to Be and Why It Endures and would moderate if one was chosen.
All the books sound interesting. Even if we don't pick them, I am getting a good number of books to add to my reading list. :-)
I just finished "The Invention of Wings." I would recommend it as it is certainly very book club worthy. A great mix of history with plenty enough of a story to make it very very much a story I wanted to get back to and was sad when it ended.
Although I am a lurker, I have a few titles that have been suggested to me in offline conversations that are on my "to-read" list. All the light we cannot see : a novel by Anthony Doerr

(Also suggested by Lori.)
The book thief by Markus Zusak

The bone clocks : a novel by David Mitchell

The girl on the train by Paula Hawkins

The lake of dead languages by Carol Goodman

Thanks Robin, now I can add them to my list, whether they are picked or not. :-)Good luck with the COTE conference in Syracuse by the way. Safe travels.
