It’s been a long time since we did an official time travel book giveaway, but John Espie’s book has me intrigued, and I think you’ll be as curious about it as I am.

THE STRING RIDER: SYNOPSIS
Trevor jumps 20 years forward to steal lotto numbers for his dream girl Rubie. Except, in this future, Rubie has been murdered... and Trevor instantly adores the daughter he's raising with another woman. Never mind his missing thumb or the fact that he drives a minivan… with eyelashes. So, upon his return, Trevor must ask: how can he save Rubie? And does saving her mean his daughter won’t be born, or can he—should he—have both?

TO ENTER, ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
If you could scope out your life 20 years in the future, and it looks pretty doggone nice but absolutely foreign from your current existence--completely different relationships, different job, etc.--would you work towards making that predicted future life happen, or would you try to alter your future to maintain your current relationships and occupation... even if it means risking a guaranteed payoff of love and riches?

GIVEAWAY TERMS
The giveaway will end Saturday, March 20. Each week along the way, The author will pick a favorite answer to gift an eBook via Amazon (you will need to provide him an Amazon-associated email address). Plus, he will give away two more at the end that will be randomly chosen on Sunday, March 21, as long as the winners promise to write an honest review.

Kbolt | 1 comments I would go ahead into the future with no qualms about being in a new situation in life. This is what time travel is for, you need to take that leap to do something new and different. They need to make this time travel machine quickly because I am a teacher and I do a great job but I am ready to step into new shoes! Everyone else can move to Mars, I'm going to the future for my own adventure!

Kavya Janani U. (kavyajanani) | 2 comments All I need in my life right now is the ability to travel back in time and alter a major life event that will erase my present pathetic condition. So if I see myself living a life oh-so wished for, I'd make changes to my present (not amounting to murdering people, treachery, running away, etc) to achieve that future.

Colin Parfitt (colindalaska) | 3 comments A different job, I could take or leave, but I couldn't cope to find that I no longer had a relationship with my wife and children, and would do whatever I could to resolve the events that led to our separation. (Regardless of how happy this alternative future life may appear)

Diane Dupree-Dempsey | 7 comments It is difficult to imagine a happy future without my current husband. If traveling to the future proved to me that I would have a lovely future either alone or with someone else, I would still know there would be pain on the way for me when I lost my husband, however that might happen. When I returned to my current present, I would do everything I could to hold on to my relationship with my husband and my children. Any rosy future without them would be the result of an awful lot of unhappiness between the present and that future.
Careerwise - I am happy where I am now, but if I were happy in the future with whatever I was doing, I might explore going in that direction once back in the present.

sorry but as Stephen King showed, it's not so easy to change the past and there are consequences

Adrian | 28 comments Well, being 60 years old and finally finding the partner of my dreams in my late 40s, I certainly would not change any thing, or I would actively fight to keep things as they are. We have already done our major life changes, living in a foreign country and career changes from IT Professional and Accountant to gardeners. We are not rich, but we have enough and live a relaxed and fun life, proud of our 3 lads who are making their own lives around the world.

John Espie | 9 comments HI everybody! I'm really enjoying the comments and discussion-- keep it up! John

John Espie | 9 comments Adrian, I like your attitude... and I've got a soft spot for gardeners! I'd be very pleased to throw a copy of The String Rider your way! Please check your inbox for my follow up. For everyone else, I've got another book to give away this week, so keep the answers coming in! Thanks, John

John, you are a gentleman. Many thanks.

Adrian | 28 comments I have replied directly to John, but it appears the hoops one has to jump through to receive a gifted book through Kindle if you live in the UK and the gifter is in the USA, are to be honest too numerous and onerous to mention according to Amazon USA.
(They involve cashing in the gift, migrating ones library across the Atlantic to Amazon.com, buying the book with the gifted cash equivalent, and then re-migrating ones library back across the Atlantic to Amazon UK. Unfortunately there are risks inherent in this process)

I have therefore sent my profuse thanks to John for his kind offer and have asked Amazon (USA) to return him his generous gift, that I can do little with unfortunately.

Diane Dupree-Dempsey | 7 comments That is too bad! You wouldn't think it would be so complex!

John Espie | 9 comments Yeah, I'm "exclusive" with Kindle Direct Publishing. It has advantages... but some seriously weird quirks too. The good news is that I was able to eventually get him a copy. (Imagine me saying that with some shifty eyes...)

As we British would say " say no more squire, wink wink"

But a big thank you John.

John Espie | 9 comments Diane, I think it's time that you explored the complexities of getting a free copy of The String Rider! (Trust me, it's totally worth the $2.99 savings, or even the free Kindle Unlimited download.) Other than being the only person other than Adrian to add to this thread this week, I actually liked your answer from last week a lot, so... you're this week's winner!

Diane Dupree-Dempsey | 7 comments Very cool and I thank you, John! I just replied to you via messages. I am excited to be a winner and to read The String Rider!

John Espie | 9 comments Three weeks is up, folks, and everyone who has already replied to this thread and hasn't yet received a book is getting one! Congrats to Jeff, Colin, and Kbolt. I'll be sending you a message for your info. Thanks to everybody for participating!

Adrian | 28 comments Many thanks John, especially for all the hoops you jumped through to provide me with a copy to read.

Colin Parfitt (colindalaska) | 3 comments Very grateful to John for the efforts taken in getting the book to me.

Finished this thoroughly enjoyable book over the weekend.

Simonne Lambert | 1 comments I’ve tried to buy John’s book through Kobo and Apple. Doesn’t seem to be available. Anyone know where I can purchase a copy?
Thanks
