Madison Winkler The Dragonet Prophecy-Tui T. Sutherland-Scholastic Corporation-July 1st, 2012
Tui. T Sutherland wrote a series of books named Wings of Fire. This series became a hit for kids and preteens across America, including myself. The first book was named “The Dragonet Prophecy.” It’s about a Mudwing named Clay. The book is about a variety of different young dragons taken from their homes. They were brought together to fulfill a prophecy.. This book is about the story of Clay. He and his friend dragons lived under a mountain training for the day they were released to go and fulfill their prophecy. Clay did not want to be part of it, so he and his friends escaped in a small river and a hole. They get kidnapped by the Sky Kingdom and forced to fight, but they escape that too. Clay wanted to get back to his family, and after escaping he was soon reunited with them. He was told that since he was the oldest, he was meant to break the eggs of his siblings. He learned he wasn't attacking them. Finally at peace with himself, he stays with his friends to go on their many adventures. I thought the book was very good. I liked the fact it was about a young dragon not wanting to fulfill a prophecy the world laid out for him. He wanted to be his own dragon. The book, however, could be very gory. With battles and weapons. It isn’t meant for to young of an audience. I give the book an 8.5 out of 10 and I highly recommend it if you want a new book series to read.
