Welcome to the Evelyn Hugo discussion board!

This is a space to talk about your thoughts as you read, anything you don't understand or want to talk to others about, just anything related to the book!

Obviously, everyone will be at different stages, so please hide your spoilers if you cant avoid them.

This discussion board is 16+ due to the adult novel.

Also - if there is anything specific you want to talk about (characters, themes, events etc.) in the livestream at the end of the month, let us know here, and we will try to ensure we bring it up as a topic!

Okay hi!

I'm Meg, and I'm going to be one of the mods that leads the Evelyn Hugo discussion. I read this for the first time last month, and fell in love with it instantly, so I am very excited to talk about it!!!

I have a fair few topics within this book that I want to discuss, so for anyone reading along during the month, here are a few examples of things we're going to be talking about:
- Evelyn Hugo as a character - is she good, bad, or both?
- PLATONIC SOULMATES
- Plot twist?
- The endings for each character
- Unapologetic bisexuality
- Open discussions about sex
- Lavender marriages
- Spoiler for the ending: (view spoiler)

+ much, much more

If anyone has any thoughts already, I'd love to hear them!

To those who've started, how are we finding the book?

I’m 15% in and I was a little weary going into it and it’s so interesting!

❗️❗️Maybe spoilers ahead❗️❗️
but I just find the plot so far really good and I can’t wait to read more of Evelyn’s story and how it will all plan out with the book and how it ties in with finally wanting to share her story and about how she wants it to be published

So I finished the book three days ago and I have only just managed to get some of my thoughts together because I am not okay!
I love this book with all of my heart! As soon a I put it down I wanted to pick it back up again so it is definitely a new favorite.
Some of the things I loved were:
-the platonic soul mates! We do not get this enough in books and it is one of my favorite book tropes!
- the handling of some very difficult topics was done perfectly
- the representation and the handling of stereotypes was done so precisely and without making a mess of it
- Evelyn was such a well developed and interesting characters who had so many floors which just made her seem more human
I have so many more thoughts and I can not wait to discuss them at the end of this month!

Ellie | 14 comments I read the book late last year and honestly it broke me. I also loved the platonic soul mates trope and how the whole book dealt woth different situations was amazing!

So I am about halfway through the book and I am OBSESSED. Like I keep having to force myself to book the book down so I can work on my assignment (It's due tomorrow oops) and other basic stuff like making dinner. I mean seriously it's SO GOOD.

But now I've had to promise myself I won't pick it up again until I finish this essay - wish me luck because I can't wait to finish the book!

I got the audiobook and was making laundry at the same time. Got chocked and was making that OMG face all the time that my grandma was asking me what news I was listening xD

It took me a week to be able to actually start a new book.... I simply loved it and totally understand your struggle

Scott Nunn (kintil) | 1 comments In general, I can agree with the blogger who praised this book, but if you go into details, then it is not worth such a high rating. I cannot say that the book was a failure, but it certainly did not live up to all my expectations. The work made me cry a little, sometimes smile, but in general, it was overly stretched and somewhat overestimated. I will recommend it as a book for two or three evenings, as it turned out for me.
