Good to know! I'm listening to audiobook but have the Kindle edition so I can go check those out. Thanks for the tip! :)
My hardback copy arrived today and I’m pleased I went for the physical edition in the end as it’s a beautiful book. Tbh I wish more books had illustrations as they can really enhance the reading experience.

The chapter illustrations in Elatosoe are just so soft and lovely, and really added a lot of atmosphere to the story form me. It was so nice to flip back through after I finished...(view spoiler)
I thought they were a nice touch. I have my ebook settings reversed, so white type on a black background, which gave them an even ghostlier appearance. Pressing pictures reverts them to normal, but in this instance I preferred the white on black.

Since most of us listen to audiobooks on smart devices now, you would think more effort would be paid on letting us see these kinds of things. Boo. But I did appreciate the audio for pronunciation!

I wish my version did that. That looks cool. On my iPad, Changing from light to dark mode only changes the text and page. The pictures stay the same inside their own little box.

There should be a pdf or something that you can view through whatever app you're listening with. I miss seeing maps & illustrations for books or the package art for music. The jacket, sleeve & label art is part of the reason I love collecting vinyl.
A good author should include all the maps, glossaries & other material for free on their own website. It would be a great PR gesture. Some do this.
I agree about missing vinyl artwork. I still own several hundred records from my younger years. It's mostly 60s, 70s & 80s. Every single one a classic.

I ordered the hardcover after seeing the comments on this thread.. I received my copy today... the artwork on the chapter pages is beautiful throughout and the embossed design on the front, back and spine is beautiful.

Thanks for the link. Beautiful work!

At the start of each chapter there is a "hero style" illustration that presents a scene from the story
I am about 250 pages in and thus far they have perfectly captured the mood and spirit of the story and I have come to enjoy them as much as I have the writing.
