Anyhow, here's a Song of Roland thread! Feel free to start the discussion.

I feel dense that I couldn't figure it out, but Google tells me that "paynim" is an archaic version of "pagan." Throwing it out there in case anyone else was confused! (This is in the Dorothy Sayers translation.)
