Located in the foothills of the Claws of the Clouds mountains, this town is a host to a large project dedicated to studying and learning to communicate with scavengers. Ironically enough, it's a hotspot for Pantalan dragons and hybrids, despite the fact that it's location was chosen for the small icy lake it's built around. Disabled and dragons with abnormal qualities are also found frequently in Sanctuary, helping it be a true home for many.

Birchfall quietly swept through the alleyways. It was still dark ad most dragons weren't awake this early in the morning. Dim lamps flickered and swayed as she walked. She could hear crickets and birds and the small squeaks of scavengers. She had helped build the mini town for scavengers in the center of the town, next to the lake. She hopped over the wall and into the scavenger town. Most of the little scavengers were used to dragons already and didn't scream or run away like they did at first. She carefully stepped around the early morning scavengers and headed to the family she studied.

The family was always awake by the time she came, tending to animals and making breakfast. She smiles and did as usual. She studied their routine, marking down what they did each day everyday and found a pattern, tried to understand what they squeaked to each other. Day by Day she started to understand what they were saying just by watching them.

Two of the scavengers, the small ones, were fighting over a toy. "..MINE! --- THIS- MINE!" One of them yelled furiously. The other tugged at the toy and squeaked something Birchfall couldn't understand.

Mamba looked outside her cave.
“Nearly time to move again...” she thought, “until Sanctuary becomes less crowded.” She played softly on her saxophone and Topaz came to her.
“We’re going soon little brother,” she whispered.

Birchfall counted the little ones running about. One, Two, Three, Four... Where's the fifth. Birchfall had studied scavengers for quite some time and she knew some of their language. "Excuse me. Where is your friend?" She asked, knowing Sparrow should be here. Three and Four shrugged and went back to fighting over the toy. Birchfall switched back to dragon. "Great, she's gone off again."

Mamba packed the saxophone and let the python slither up her arm. She pulled the cloak on so that it covered her entire body. She stepped out of her cave and looked around.

Rosebud entered the village, her sister camoflauged behind her. ((Lotus isn't an actual character her lines are just in Rosebud's RP so she can't actually do anything.))

Birchfall lifted her head, the beautiful Leafwing spotted Rosebud. She noticed a slight shimmer behind the new-comer. A second dragon. She stood and approached them. "Hello." She said, "I'm Birchfall. Who are you and your friend?" She cocked her head. Her voice was soft and gentle.

"Uhm, it's just me. My name is Rosebud. I'm looking for a place to live" Rosebud replied, trying not to let her nervousness creep into her voice.

"Of course. There are plenty of places to live." She turned and started to walk away. "Follow me, Rosebud" Birchfall knew there was another dragon but she didn't push it. Pebbles skittered beneath her talons as she walked. She walked fast. She approached an empty area. "Here, you can live here." There was nothing and it appeared she would have to build her own home.

"Thanks for the help. It really meant a lot to me." Rosebud said, trying to refrain from looking behind her. The dragon probably already knew, but if she didn't, Lotus would be safer if no one knew about her. For now at least.

Birchfall smiled, her teeth pearly and sharp. "Ah, don't mention it. It's my pleasure. There's a forest nearby you can collect resources from and it's abundant with food, you can also fish if needed." She tucked her wings close to her body. "But don't go inside the scavenger center yet. You'll need to be assigned a family if you want to study them."

"Ok, thanks." She said.

humming bird landed

Birchfall noticed Hummingbird. "Well i'll leave you to it Rosebud!" She smiled and then ran off towards Hummingbird to greet them.

"hi" he said kindly

Rosebud gathered as much materials as she could without taking so much that no one else could use them, and built a small cottage, big enough for two dragons. To the other people here, it would seem as if she just wanted a little bit more room, which would be normal. Lotus would be her secret until she decided it was safe enough for her. But it might not be a secret for long, Rosebud thought with a shiver, thinking of the dragon who'd helped her. Maybe she wouldn't tell anyone though. Rosebud wasn't sure if she could 100% trust her, but she had no choice other than to trust her.

"Hello." Birchfall dipped her head in greeting. "Are you new here?" She asked, light as a feather. Her white scales were odd, unlike most Leafwings she wasn't green. She looked like a birch tree, her wings autumn colored.

"yes i am, who are you" he replied

"I'm Birchfall." She introduced herself. "Welcome to Sanctuary. Who are you?"

Two scavengers hid in the bushes, noticing the house that filled a once empty space. A new dragon lived there, an obvious hybrid, like plenty of the dragons here. But this dragon was not yet fully grown, and Marigold saw no parents in sight. This didn't surprise her, as her own family had been taken away from her, except her twin brother, Conifer, who was hiding in the bush alongside her. Maybe she and this dragon had something in common. She noticed a slight shimmer somewhere close to the Dragon, but saw nothing reflective where it was coming from. She's not actually alone, Marigold thought. She had heard the dragon's earlier conversation when she arrived, she was listening, she had to whenever someone new came, in case they could possibly be dangerous. She'd heard the dragon deny the fact that someone was with her, so whoever this was must be very important to her. She looked back at Conifer, and back to the dragon. The dragon held the door for a moment, before going inside the house and shutting the door, and this time she was certain she saw something shimmer through the doorway. It wouldn't hurt to take a closer look.

fang flys over to the bush silently and grabs a scavanger

Mamba saw the scavenger being abducted by the new SandWing.
“Topaz,” Mamba asked her snake, “Do I risk my dignity to protect a scavenger?”
Topaz stared back, then nodded his head.
Mamba jumped into the air and barreled towards Fang, her black, shimmerless scales standing out as she started to turn dark red.

he sets it down and vanishes trough a black goo in the ground

Rosebud let out a sigh. Finally, they were inside, and safe. It was nearly noon now, and soon she would have to get lunch ready for Lotus.

"I'm Hungry." Lotus said.

"Tell you what, since you did such a good job of listening, I'll give you some chocolate before lunch." Rosebud said.

"Did I do a good job?" Lotus asked eagerly.

"Yes, you did a great job." Rosebud replied. She tried not to think about the earlier conversation and handed her a piece of chocolate.

Suddenly, she felt a prickly feeling in her scales.

As is someone...or something....was watching her.

The Dragon in the window suddenly closed the curtains in a flash.

Interesting, Marigold thought. Most dragons never even notice I'm there. This is a first. And I was right, there was someone else. This dragon has a younger sister, like, really young. I probably would've done the same. The little one probably has no idea how to defend herself yet. I guess we have more in common than I thought. Whoever this is, may be a possible ally.

Mamba grabbed the scavenger and put it back with it’s friend. She pulled her cloak over her head and looked at Rosebud.
“What is she doing here?” She asked Topaz.
Mamba trudged to the other side of the house and saw another dragon. Mamba checked herself to make sure she was entirely black.

Rosebud turned to her sister. "Stay here until I figure something out, and hide. I think we're being watched."
Lotus nodded, and turned invisible without further question. Rosebud softly opened the door and left the house, and immediatly camoflauged herself. If they were being watched, than that meant someone knew about Lotus. Was it the dragon from before, or someone else?

Marigold leapt into the bush, which would give her a bit of time to plan her escape. She'd trained herself to hear even the quietest footsteps, which is how she knew the dragon had left the house.
Conifer would be waiting for her there. And yet even those with the most precise training in stealth still seem to fail. Because the dragon had found them.

“Theif?” Mamba asked, “Trying to kidnap scavengers?”
Mamba trudged towards Marigold, ”I don’t see a reason to hide if you are innocent.”

Rosebud looked at the bushes. There were quiet squeaking noises coming from inside one of them. Scavengers, She thought. I think the dragon from earlier said something about them. I wonder what they're doing out here. I'm going to check it out. She stepped carefully towards the bush and pushed aside the branches...



Marigold was face to face with the dragon she'd been watching. "What are you doing here?" The dragon asked. "What are you doing here?" She asked. "This is my home."

"Why were you watching me? Are you working with the other dragons here to kick me out?" The dragon replied. "What exactly did you see?"

"Well, when someone new comes to the city, it's my job to assess their threat level, because I kind of don't want to get killed." Marigold said.

"And I'm a threat?" The dragon replied.

"Not necessarily. Are you?" Marigold said.

"Only if I have to be. And if you tell anyone what you saw, I might be." The dragon replied.

Marigold thought she was starting to like this dragon. She noticed that she really had a lot in common with her. I wonder what brought her here, Marigold thought. And if her story's anything like mine

"Who said I was telling anyone?" Marigold said. "What would I gain from that?"

"I can think of several things." The dragon said, suspicious of her.

"That doesn't mean I'm going to." Marigold said. "I'm not willing to make an enemy right now, but an ally? Maybe."

"Seems like we're in agreement then." The dragon said. "I'm Rosebud, by the way."

"Marigold" She said. "Back there is Conifer. We can help you around the city."

"My first friend here," Rosebud said. "That's useful. I'm going inside to make lunch, I'll see you later.

"Bye." Marigold replied. Hopefully, Rosebud would help her.

“Sorry now,” Mamba sighed and pulled her cloak closer around her, “I think I will just go...”
As she said this, she looked back and bumped into Hummingbird.

"oh hi, how are you" he asked

Mamba started to turn red from embarrassment, but stopped herself. She did not want to let this dragon to know her ugly secret, how some of her scales were black and shimmer-less.
“Pretty good,” She muttered, “Sorry for bumping into you.”

"it's okay" he said with a smile

Mamba started to turn pink, but once again changed back to black.
"What brings you here to Sanctuary?" She asked. She was feeling uneasy like she should just run.
"But that would make that cute ((SilkWing? RainWing?)) think I am a suspicious character.." Mamba thought.

"what tribe are you from i came here to make some friends" he asked all happy, "i'm a silk/rain/sky, mostly silkwing" he smiled

"You would laugh if I told you what tribe I am from," Mamba sighed. Topaz hugged her arm tighter.
((For the record, Topaz is a snake. AND I am a little confused as to where Fang is officially))

"I laugh all the time" he giggled

"No I mean," Mamba started, "Like.." Just then Topaz poked his head from under the cloak, "Like it is way out of the ordinary, like, you do not expect it and you hate it." Mamba took her other arm and Topaz slithered on to it.

"Butterfly!" he danced around chasing a butterfly (I had to make a sweet silly dragon) then he looked back at her, "i like your snake"

using your character in more than one place is both obnoxious and confusing. Please use them in one roleplay at a time. I know i'm not a mod but it's a big pet peeve of mine ))

Topaz slithered up Mamba's arm, traveled across her back and wings, then slithered down Mamba's other arm.
"I see..." Mamba started, but didn't know how to finish the sentence, "I see...you like nature."

he nodded

fang lands and pulls out prim ivan and hawthorn and sets them down

"hello" humming bird smiled

" hey"

"oh cute scavengers" he said

" thank you"

Topaz slithered off of Mamba's arm and coiled around Fang's leg. He started to squeeze tighter, tighter than a normal hug from a snake.
