Play Book Tag discussion

This novel follows a group of people in the weeks leading up to the Oakland Powwow; their stories collide the night of the big event.

I wanted so badly to like this book, but I just didn't. I usually enjoy books that switch narrators, but this one felt oddly disjointed. It didn't help that I didn't really care about any of the characters.

I think another problem was I kept comparing it to The Overstory, which I read recently. Both books follow disparate characters and then join them together, and both novels have definite social issue messages. However, The Overstory did it much better.
