Beth, Portia, and Eddie Morgan haven't all been together in years. And for very good reasons—we'll get to those later. But when their wealthy grandfather dies and leaves a cryptic final message in his wake, the siblings and their respective partners must come together for a cross-country road trip to fulfill his final wish and—more importantly—secure their inheritance.

But time with your family can be tough. It is for everyone.

It's even harder when you're all keeping secrets and trying to forget a memory—a missing person, an act of revenge, the man in the black truck who won't stop following your car—and especially when at least one of you is a killer and there's a body in the trunk. Just to name a few reasons.

But money is a powerful motivator. It is for everyone.

Sorry, but I started this one early by accident. I'm 25% into it (pg. 94) and so far I'm loving it.

Grandpa (view spoiler)[seems like he was a little whacked! I love all the reminiscing of the "grandpa stories" they keep telling. I love the allusion to Bonnie and Clyde He must've had a good sense of humor, making them take a trip with his ashes to get their inheritance. LOL I love it! (hide spoiler)]

Grandpa (view spoiler)[is not any kind of grandpa I ever knew or had! He obviously is/was abusive to Grandma. Sad she stayed! I wouldn't put it past him to have sabotaged their trip so they end up not getting his money! (hide spoiler)]

It's funny that (view spoiler)[Grandpa's ashes are gone. LOL Who would have stolen them or are they really someplace and just haven't been found. I wonder if I missed something. (hide spoiler)]

I was dying to get back to this one OMG! I loved it!

Krista (view spoiler)[turned out worse than all of them. lol But jeez, can you imagine being in that family? I wasn't expecting so many to die...I thought that Nikki might've been alive somewhere. I never expected Krista of anything like what she did! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think this is super intriguing! I love how there are all those mini secrets that we find out about throughout the story. The grandpa is kidnapping them (sorta?), but he let's them speak to their parents every once in a while? Where are their parents? What happened to them? What did the grandfather do to his wife? Who are the people following them? Is the woman with them the oldest sister? What happened to that sister? So many questions, insane!
I'm wondering about the guy Beth is checking out on social media all the time. I assume he's her affair, but why does he never write her or anything?

It's so interesting to me when people have such different view points of a book. I'm sorry you didn't like it, Attack Salmon. I obviously loved it. In part, it was the family/sibling dynamics that I enjoyed even though they were terribly disfunctional! I also loved the forced trip until the point I realized what it was all about. lol

I was the same way...so intrigued and wondering the entire time (view spoiler)[who the car was following them, how Grandpa could be so awful and get away with it, all the secrets everyone had, if Nikki was really there and a ghost...I loved it. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I really wonder what happened to Nikkie! It seems dangerous to drug the grandfather, he could easy die due to an overdose. But we already know that's not what happened and he died a lot later.
I wonder what is going on with the golden button and I hope we'll find out more about it soon!
Eddie seems like an asshole. The kind of guy to stay away from as a woman. I understand that Krista left the group and went home!

(view spoiler)[I can't believe, Beth killed her husband! But a divorce would have cost her a lot of money, especially if he lost his job....
It's an interesting case here, because usually you don't get to know the murder victim in these murder mysteries very well before they die, but this perspective made it very interesting!
It turns out I was wrong about Beth checking in on her affair, she was actually checking out Nikki's exboyfriend!

I wondered about that too. It is answered for you later in the book.

(view spoiler)[I think the conclusion was a little bit disappointing. I had really hoped that Nikki would appear again and that she was behind all of it. Eddie is a horrible person.
I do have to say that I liked how the ending was left open, this was refreshingly different from the usual murder/mystery! (hide spoiler)]
