Megan | 1607 comments Bingo
Just to not clutter up the thread I'll put these in a nice spoiler tag.
(view spoiler)

Now so far our team has identified two books as bingo
Witch in Progress (A Blair Wilkes Mystery #1) by Elle Adams - broom - broom is shown on the cover
The Color of Magic (Discworld, #1; Rincewind, #1) by Terry Pratchett - wooden trunk - luggage on cover
There is an example in the rules near the bottom in another spoiler tag for square C8 "I Aten't Dead" you could use a book with Zombies MPG.
So I think we can use things on the cover, words in a title, MPG that may match. I think even for E6 - howling wolf. MPG Werewolves, or maybe moon on cover because a howling wolf will howl at the moon? - I think that is a good enough link. Oh also, for example socks was given in the captains chat to mods about a possible link. "Sock - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Dobby is given a book from Lucius Malfoy in which HP has hidden a sock, essentially freeing Dobby from servitude." As this is a main plot line in HP book #2 this would be a nice link, but socks just mentioned as part of the outfit not so OK...

Perhaps if you have an idea of linkage you could say, no pressure to read a book that matches it, it just may help with linking for books.

⚚♆ Cynthia ♆⚚ | 481 comments Hello Team! My name is Cynthia and I will be one of your co-captains. I am originally from Spain but I have been living in England for the last 7 years. I am currently WFH Mon-Fri 9-5 UK time and I usually check Goodreads a couple of times a day. I am a business controller so I love spreadsheets and organising!

I will be moving back to Spain the next month so you will hear me complaining about how much I hate moving!

I usually read around 2-4 books per week, mainly romance and fantasy/paranormal but I also enjoy thrillers and science fiction.

I have to admit that I had never heard of Discworld before but I am looking forward to reading them and participating in the BOMs.

I am really excited to start! :)

message 17: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1607 comments Helloo, I'm Megan. Another one of your co captains. I'm in England, on BST timezone. I currently WFH, and have to do on call every wednesday and some weekends :-( so I may be on at random points in the night.

I also have a 6 month old puppy who has only just managed to sleep through the night with no accidents but he does sometimes get me up at 4am, so hey I may be on during the night at points.

I've never read the Discworld series but Terry Prachett is my dads favourite author so I've heard a few things over the years. I think I'm going to try and borrow his books for the BOMs.

message 18: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments For those of you that haven't read any of the Discworld books and want to dive in during this challenge... I have added a reading guide in message 4. It was given to me by someone else. Apparently, you shouldn't just start the series anywhere. Of course, then I had to admit to her that I had done just that. LOL

I have read maybe 5 or so books in the series and I have been skipping around. The first 2, I loved (later in the series). The others, not as much. The early books in the series that I tried to read didn't hold my interest as much.

message 19: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1969 comments Hi everybody, great to get to know you! I'm Camilla from Finland (GMT +2). I work full time as a school psychologist, so usually check in in the morning and evening. I'm married with two adult daughters. Besides reading I like baking, gardening and travels, although not much of that happening lately.

I haven't read any of the Discworld books or Terry Pratchett at all, I'm afraid (sorry, Terry!) and don't think I will start now. I do read a lot of fantasy, scifi, horror and thrillers as well as a fair amount of non-fiction; not so keen on romance and please no poems, plays, or erotica.

message 20: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1969 comments Oh, forgot to say that I'm currently still playing UNO and co-captaining there, so will focus on that until the end of April and be more "present" here once UNO ends and TT starts.

message 21: by Peg (new)

Peg | 88 comments Hello Everybody! I'm currently in Arizona and have returned to school so I'm on here randomly, sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes skipping a few days. I already have some of the Discworld books but have put off getting into the series for some reason. Excited for this chance to jump in!

This is my first team challenge, so if I stumble, please be kind. I also will be traveling from Apr 29-May 8. There will be reading in there, maybe just not as frequent check-ins here.

message 22: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) Hi Everyone!! My name is Monica and I am single woman that works in the Special Education department of a local school district. I also sell Avon and Pampered Chef on the side. I try to read in my free time. I have not read the Disc World books (yet).

I am from Pennsylvania, Southeastern part of the state. I have done this challenge before and I love it! I also have a granddaughter and spend time with her when I can. My children are out on their own so it is just me! I am the one that interrupts my reading.

I have my shelf already created, please let me know if you need the name or link to it.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi. I'm Debra and I live in North Carolina. I have 2 cats and a Quaker parrot. I am a full time caregiver for my 23 yr. old so I check in a few times a day. I haven't read Discworld but have it saved on my book list on Amazon.

I have never played so please feel free to help me out. I have read the intro page so I have the gist.

message 24: by Kate S (new)

Kate S | 1998 comments Hi everyone! I'm Kate and I live in Virginia. I think I have participated in all of the tower teams, but I may have missed one in there somewhere.

I have read one book from the Discworld series, but it didn't do much for me. I have downloaded a few to give another try for this challenge. I have a hard time starting a series anywhere but number one, so I will start there, but am willing to continue reading to see if something later in the series better catches my fancy.

My shelf for this challenge: tiffany-aching

Looking forward to reading with you all!

Sarah (sarahjh26) | 629 comments Well I'm last to the party. Thanks for the message Donna! Xoxoxo

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah, living in Connecticut. I've done only a small handful of team challenges in the past with most of them being Tower Teams. I put my reading amount quite low, just in case, but I'm definitely up for some speed reading if need be (Quidditch, anyone?!)

I've never read anything Terry Pratchett besides Dark Omens. I've been wanting to tackle Discworld for a while now and Tower Teams are seriously amazing (I've met some of my favorite online people via TT) so the stars aligned!

I'm in my early 30s living at home with my parents on disability. I've slowly been getting better health wise, which is lucky as my Dad had a bad fall on ice in February. He'll be having some major shoulder surgery soon so I'll be home with him. So plenty of time for reading!

Can't wait to take Discworld on with you all :)

message 36: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahjh26) | 629 comments And yep Donna, my shelf is correct!

message 37: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1607 comments Morning all, or evening depending on timezone maybe?

I've added in BOMs information in msg 8 Just a reminder we get extra points for participating in BOMs. I'll be reading Dumplin' (Dumplin', #1) by Julie Murphy - I've also volunteered for the DQs.

No pressure if the books don't take your fancy!

message 38: by Mary (new)

Mary Hangen | 93 comments I ordered all three BOMs! I am excited about all of them! I am not good with DQs but I will answer them!

message 39: by Megan (new)

⚚♆ Cynthia ♆⚚ | 481 comments For those who use the UK Amazon website, if you are interested, The Foundling Kindle edition is £1.90 and the Paperback is only £2.00 (how can it be this cheap!?). I have checked the US site but unfortunately is way more expensive!

Megan | 1607 comments So following on from Jenny's post. There are a few tasks to recommend books for other teams to read. I think the easiest way is to get you guys to recommend a few books and I'll put them into one post so other teams can find the recommendations easier.
