Anything but romance. Maybe sci-fi or fantasy?

I'd prefer fantasy.
Also length has to be a factor, some people can read LOTR trilogy in a week while others may take months.

I assume the time for discussion can be modified based off whatever book gets chosen. I'm down with any genre really. As long as the book club doesn't become only that genre forever
I agree with Samuel, we should definitely change it up. I love sic-fi for example, but that's not all I like to read.
Right now, I'm reading a non fiction/Native American history bookI'm probably gonna stick with the nonfiction genre because I spent all of last year reading fiction and literature, and I do living history as well (quite a bit of research).
I'll keep up with the updates though, just to see any potential reading material in the future. :)
Wow Alex I'm honoured! 'I solemnly swear to uphold the honour of Imgureaders Book Club, and to smite those who skip pages!' ;D
Melanie I'd love to know what book that is, the Native American one, I love their history and culture.
As my first act as Moderator I guess I should help to choose a book.
Also we need to establish how long a period each book has to be read.
I'd suggest two weeks per book, with a week in between for discussion and for catch-ups.
Also on choosing a book I could use the randomiser and pick say 5 then we can vote on who fancies what, most votes wins and heads/tails for tiebreaker.
Thoughts?

Ok, I'll use the randomiser tomorrow and make a list, I'll try to mix genres keep it to books that are easily accessible, i.e. kindle books.
Ill give it until the end of Sunday for votes, then Ill announce the victor and we can start.
To vote just reply here with your selection and I'll add it to my list, I've created a spreadsheet to keep track.
Who knows maybe one day you can all read my book and review it! :D
Then I'll sit there weeping as you all tell me you can't stand it lol

I have created a new folder and thread for the book clubs first book, I will post the selections there.
I am getting nowhere using the goodreads random book generator so I'm going to use Amazons 100 bestseller list and random.org to choose 5. I'll avoid books such as 50 Shades of Grey and ones that are so popular you've probably read them already.
I'll try to find new sources for book selections each time and I'll create a selection from suggestions some weeks.
Hope everyone is okay with this, don't want to make anyone unhappy.
Also please only use the dedicated book threads to vote and discuss the books, I'll close the threads after four weeks of creation if its inactive.
Any general thoughts about the book club would be best kept here I think.
I'll post the books on the above thread soon, so get voting!

Also forgot to say, I'll omit books that are part of a series unless its the first, or if we've already read the first and its the second etc.
Okay, Im going to post the books now.
The random.org didn't work, believe it or not the first option was 50 Shades of Grey! Then it kept coming back with cookbooks and childrens books.
So I manually went through and found 5 that might be suitable. Hope they are!

Read The Universe VS Alex Woods. A light read, some fantasy some humour and fairly short. Perfect for a starter I would say.
Come on peeps book club vote closes 17 hours! Vote if you haven't already!

Hi everyone!
I've added our book club books to the group bookshelf and the current book 3 (Stardust by Neil Gaiman) is set as an event.
I will be continuing to add the book club books to the shelf and as events so they're easier to follow.
