What do you think after reading this chapter?

Michelle (michellehartline) | 21 comments I really love Nolyn and Amicus. And the whole rift between Sephryn and Nolyn was finally explained- thank you! I guess she must have found out she was pregnant shortly after they went their separate ways. I hope Nolyn finds out about his son soon; he's got such a crappy familial relationship that his son would mean the world to him.

Sarah | 40 comments It's been interesting to see how religion and myth plays out in a fledgling society without writing to provide consistency, not Brin's intention! Even as Nolyn and Sephryn relate first hand experiences with people now considered legends, or their parents encounters with actual gods, their facts are questioned because they clash with the many versions of the tales handed down since. But it's also fun to see that an 800 year old doesn't know everything, and that the oral myths of the Teshlors and the dwarves had truths even Nolyn and Sephryn didn't know!

Bonnie | 6 comments I'd be curious to know how this book reads to someone who hasn't read Legends. I feel like they would miss out on a lot. Or if nothing else that it would be hard to keep track of all the history.
It was exciting to read about the Orinfar, and that Nyphron's motivations might not be what they seem.

Alison Mahdak | 11 comments This is one of my favorite chapters so far. I love the way the Seventh Sik-Aux live and they way it encourages Nolyn to think about how he is living his life. The swimming scene made me think of a group of my friends who are smoke jumpers. They love each day fully and with this spark that so few other people exhibit with such abandon. I often feel like Nolyn when I spend time with them. They are inspiring.

Sabine | 20 comments Loved that chapter and the backgrounds that have been revealed. Enjoyed it from the first word and kept me with a smile, when seeing the rest of the group walking away from the warm of the campfire to get their own tattoos ;-)

Anyone could give me a hint about Wigan or Bob? I can’t loose the feeling I should know these names but can’t remember that they had been mentioned until now?

I also have thoughts about the way Nyphron treated his son after the dead of his mother. Even more after learning abut the story of the tattoo. I mean he’s a Frey and maybe he’s not good with feelings and just wanted to do something good for his son by sending him away? Sure we will learn more about Nyphron’s intentions later on - looking forward to that!
