Everyone keeps saying the book is about discrimination and I agree with that but I’m surprised no one is talking about how it’s also an allegory for kids with special needs.

Also gay acceptance, particularly with Lucy the anti-Christ as stand-in for queer kids, because they’re so demonized. It works on multiple levels like that.
This would be a great animated film, I think.
