I like it but I have to take a break. In the Luke section and I'm starting to not like anybody. I'll be back. I just need a change because I want to know how it all comes out, of course!
My review:
While I can certainly understand why some people love this book either due to my current mental state, the state of the world or a combination of both, it was not a pleasant read for me. I love a well written, immersive, family saga so I appreciated the book for those reasons but the characters did not capture my heart. I found one of the main relationships in the book disturbing due to the characters' age difference because they met when the woman was just a child. There was a lot of death and despair with too little levity to balance it out. I enjoyed learning about Australia and some of the other locations in the novel. I am glad I read it, but it was a struggle.
