As soon as it was mentioned that they were getting a new judge, I figured this woman was planted by Tobias or Joseph. I don't remember why the original judge couldn't be there, but I figured that they were blackmailing her and made sure she wasn't able to take over the hearing. When Axelrod refused to hold Elise for another couple of days, it seemed like she was the type that would do anything for the right amount of money.
The judge that was supposed to preside was someone named Goodman and no reason was given for her/his replacement. I believe Axelrod is on the take. She turned that hearing into a trial, which was highly irregular and threatened to put Lucy in jail, without justification (she was allowed to state her objections).
We will probably never know.
We will probably never know.
I wonder if we'll see Easy Axe in another book in the future. She could throw a wrench in some of the FBI's cases.
The change in judge at the last minute was a red flag. And then when she made the decision to send her to that group home really made me think she was in on it.
I was suspicious of the last minute change of judges and when she was so obviously biased against Lucy and the Christine Fallow the Assistant US attorney (AUSA) handling Elise’s case, I knew she was on the take.
The courtroom scene was another one that was so fake for me, I could not believe our author wrote it....
