Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Name: Levi Judson Kessler

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Occupation: Bounty Hunter

Appearance:

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 200lbs

Personality: Gruff and not very friendly, Levi was always a hardworking kind of man and willing to go the extra mile to make sure things get done right. When it comes to picking the high road or the low road, Levi wanders down the low road just enough for a taste before he wanders back up to the high one, never one to fully fall into crime. Seeing his father's decline has taught him to take care of himself, which makes him on the stubborn, proud side. His job doesn't earn him respect when it comes to first impressions, but as a decent kind of man, Levi tends to make friends with the outcasts and common folk.

History: As a lad, he grew up on a farm far from the main town. Winters were rough and the summers were oppressive and Levi lived there with just his father after his mother died of a fever one night when he was seven. Life was hard on the farm and his father turned to alcohol and gambling as an escape. He loved his son, but he couldn't get his act together and it came to a point that they were slowly building up debt. Levi's father got involved with some shady characters in town in order to get the money to pay for the farm before it was taken away. But that eventually cost his father's life as he was shot dead in front of him when he was fourteen when the shady characters came asking for payment. Before they could attack Levi to silence him as a witness, he was already on the run, hopping onto their feeble family horse and dashed off as if the devil himself was after him. He made it into town in safety, but Levi knew that he couldn't be there for long since his father's reputation and those outlaws will still be after him. Hitching a ride on a wagon, Levi wandered the Wild West, finding himself lost a couple times and meeting friendly tribes of Indians and the occasional homestead. As Levi grew, he became a more capable man that can handle himself in the wilderness. When he was nearing twenty, he came into a new town and another man grew fond of the young man when he visited the saloon. The old man taught Levi about the benefits of being a bounty hunter and so he took up that occupation and ran with it. Recently he picked up the job of capturing the latest outlaw, a Jessabelle Kinsella.

Other: He's fantastic when it comes to dealing with animals, particularly horses and dogs. Not really the best at cooking, but he makes a great cup of Joe. Secretly he has a fondness for pastries.

Note to Self:

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Levi dismounted from his horse, plucking his hat from his head as he did so. It had been a particularly windy day, the dust blowing back and forth and his skin was a shade darker than normal. Batting his hand against the back of his legs, Levi eyed the saloon's sign, squinting in the sunlight as he made sure he got the right place. "Duke's Saloon. Seems 'bout right," he muttered to himself as he placed his hat back on his head. He made sure he tied off his horse to the post firmly, then he stepped right on in through the double doors of the saloon.

Jessabelle sat at the same table as always, one in the very back of the Saloon. She had a drink in her hand, a whole bottle of the best scotch you could get around here. It was already half-empty, but she still wasn't feeling the effect. It was the consequence of many years of drinking: her tolerance was almost impossibly high.

She had her back to the door, but she knew everything that was going on behind her, which is why she also knew the man who wanted to be hired had entered the Saloon. She looked to the right where an older man stood in a corner and gave her a barely noticeable nod. She nodded back and focused on her drink again as she waited for the man to come near.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Scanning the crowd, Levi's eyes fell on the back of a woman at a corner table. He didn't wander over just yet, though, instead moving over to the bar. Leaning on the counter, he nodded a greeting to the bartender. "A bottle of whiskey, if you don't mind. The cheapest one would do." Once the bartender handed him the bottle and he paid, Levi went over to the designated meeting spot, taking his time in doing so.

Just a couple weeks ago he caught word with some of his fellow bounty hunters that the price on the missy's head was raised. It caught Levi's attention since it's been a while since he's had a challenge and this Jessabelle seemed interesting enough. With some effort, he managed to get his foot through the door in order to present himself as someone she could hire in her gang. Hopefully this job would be over and done with.

KittySterekHobrien (darkalaskanstarr) | 25 comments Jessabelle caught the sight of the man standing in their meeting spot and stood up, the bottle in her hand as she walked over to him.
"You're late. Not a good first impression," she said, her voice latticed with a thick accent that gave away how angry she actually felt. "I rarely hire anyone and yet I did an exception for you and this is how you repay me?" she asked, trying to keep her voice level.

She gave a curt nod to the men standing on each side of the room, letting them know that everything was okay.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Taking a sip of his whiskey, Levi kept his face even as he stared back at the woman. "Can't help it when I was stopped by the sheriff to chat, now can I?" he replied, a brow raised slightly in a meaningful look. It wasn't a lie, exactly, though his chat mostly entailed a "How you doin'?" and a "Doin' fine". Still, he made sure he wasn't overly confident. It wouldn't be a good idea to offend her, though there was still a proud set to his jaw that was almost a permanent feature.
