This sentence... “He wasn’t the father I wanted, but I think he may have been the father I needed.”So powerful it brought tears to my eyes. As both a parent of adult children, and a child old enough to be finally learning these same lessons, I don't think I've ever heard it out so well, especially in one concise sentence. Thank you for that. I will treasure it.
As far as the rest of the chapter... I knew Arvis had it in her. That woman is a survivor if there ever was one.

Arvis made me think of Tressa. They both had seemingly innocuous beginnings, but were so very important to the story. They both battled their inner demons, both stemming from loss, yet both were given redemption.
