Contemporary is basically realistic fiction. Here’s an actual definition I found “ They usually take place in the same time period the reader is living (the present), with things that are currently, or could be happening, in the same time period. The contemporary genre also contains informal and conversational dialogue, and sometimes even regional dialects.”
I have some (actually a lot of) suggestions:- The Fault In Our Stars
- Looking for Alaska
- Paper Towns
- Turtles All The Way Down
- Everything, Everything
- Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
- The Hate U Give
- A Man Called Ove
- Beartown
- Room
- Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
