Set in 1930s, 40s, 50s, the protagonist leaves prison in Sweden and somehow finds himself working on the nuclear weapon program in Stalins Soviet Union, getting involved in the spanish civil war, working in KaiShek led China, befriending a posse of world leaders along the way. It is written in humerous adventure style with the narrator being not entirely aware of the significance of each of the individual feats. I read this book around 2017, 2018 or maybe even 2019 and no amount of googling is helping. Any clue would be fantastic.

No, I read that one also, it was. fantastic, similar vibe, but the works leaders is a big part of the plot, thank you
Are you sure? All the parts about befriending world leaders is told in flashbacks. I'd be really surprised if there were two books with such similar stories, but I could be wrong! The Wikipedia summary goes into quite a lot of detail:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_H...
Glad you found your book, Rita. Here's the link for Becca's find - The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.
