A few sentence review of Fangirl - or, go wild if you have a lot to say!

I do have a lot to say but I'll hold off the spoilers for just a bit :)

Cliff notes review....a decent fan fic about, well, fan fic. Enjoyable characters, but no glue to make you fall in love with them. Enjoyable story, but not enough to glue to truly bind it all together.

Per my Goodreads review - I liked this book. Kind of typical YA fare. If you had told me John Green or Matthew Quick had written this I would not have flinched!

I did like it better than Eleanor & Park and the nod to Harry Potter is amusing.

Here's my review: (view spoiler)[Every time I review a Rainbow Rowell book I feel a bit silly for all the gushing I know I am about to do. I can't help it. I love, love, love her fiction! Makes no never mind to me if it's written for adults or young adults, I just gobble it up. Rowell seems to just get feelings. Not just the good feelings, but insecurity, unfounded hurt, anger, you name it, she can write it.

Our main character here is Cath, who happens to be a bit shy and quiet and a fan fiction writer. Cath also has a nervous stomach which Rowell captured so perfectly! I have a nervous stomach and if I am angry, embarrassed or afraid, my stomach is where I feel it.

Interspersed between chapters are excerpts from the "Simon Snow" series that Cath writes her fan-fic about. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to write this book. Rowell essentially wrote three stories. Cath's real story, the selections from the made up Simon Snow series and to top it off some of Cath's fan-fic about Snow. She did all three so well that I really wanted to read more! She not only peaked my interest, but left me really wishing these stories existed. That's a feat!

I refuse to spoil anything, but the way Rowell wrote Luke...we all need a Luke in our lives. I want a Luke.

I am anxiously awaiting Rowell's next book and just know that the minute I finish it I will begin waiting for the next. I hope she writes for many, many years to come. (hide spoiler)]
